Studies on inserts and flats?

Has anybody seen any studies or any type of proof that inserts prevent flats? I know it seems like they should, but I like data.

If you want to know they work just mount them with a regular tubeless valve, pump up the tyre and try and let the air out…

Really no way to model that to “prove” inserts prevent flats. There is no way to control all the variables that could result in a flat.

You would need to ensure that you control for speed, weight, size of impact, shape of object, etc.

In the unfortunate circumstances I’ve mounted a tire like this, I’ve found notching out a chunk of the insert under the valve works well.

If it doesn’t work then obviously you’re in for a tough time.

Purpose built valve’s the way to go

Don’t worry I won’t make that mistake again (in fact I even got special Fillmore valves) but OP doubted the efficacy of liners and using regular tubeless valves is an easy test although you’d have to go through the pain to unseat/reseat your tyre to install correct valves
