ignoring everything else about SRAM vs Shimano, I am wondering which gearing makes more sense for me? i ride flat and rolling hilly terrain (“climbs” can be 8-12 degrees but are <3 min) and average ~28 km/h (185-200 watts) for 90% of my rides (endurance). never race.
building a bike and was all but decided on Shimano going 50/34 and 11-34. then I was looking at SRAM’s gearing and they are claiming less shifting in the front ring… Looks like the close to equivalent would be 46/33 and 10-33.
am I reading / interpreting this wrong? I put everything into Bicycle Gear Calculator. Looks like the steps in the Big ring on SRAM are closer from 35-55 km/hour. but where I generally hang out in the 25-35km/hour range looks like the steps are closer in SRAM than Shimano in the Small ring.
wouldn’t I wanna hang out in the big ring as often as possible?
just wondering if anyone has compared the two ratios in real life and what your thoughts are on daily use - specifically with endurance rides.
unable to upload screenshot but here’s the link to the setup I made. 90 cadence and 35mm tires
thank you for any thoughts.
