Honestly. Not a super dumb way to get people to ride HH. Seems like lots of people on Garmin haven’t tried anything else (at least in Sweden) and getting a HH for free with your top end bike, with the motivation that they are all connected, might just work to increase market share
Especially with the Garmin 1050 costing as much as Shimano 105 Di2 (almost)
Sure…but they tend to be the larger, more popular teams - Ineos, Visma, Postal ( ), etc. I wouldn’t put Bora in that group. But maybe there is opportunities in Germany and Austria.
I think the market is more Red Bull fans than Bora fans. Not sure what the brand presence is like in the US but they’re huge in Europe. E.g. Could see crossover sales from cyclists who also follow the RB F1 team. I see quite a few replica WVA Red Bull helmets around for example.
If I was paid to ride an advertising board for products, I might consider it, but it would have to be a substantial amount as those Rovals with the white text are simply awful. Technically excellent though.
Forking out for the privilege? I’ll leave that for those for a disposition for such items and over weight dentists with the hardest working Lycra zips in cycling.
It is a good way to penetrate the other sports markets, not necessarily going for cyclists/bike racing enthusiasts. But people that love Red Bull from other sports who are looking to get into cycling. Obviously getting into cycling and buying a 16 grand bike is niche from our perspective, but I’m sure the market exists from Motorsports and Skiing etc.
I actually really liked the look of the Red Bull bike (no, I wouldn’t spend $17k on it though) until I zoomed in and saw that the white is absolutely COVERED in branding graphics.
Agreed, if I was in the show room looking at SL8’s and this was the same price, I’d consider it even with the branding, if the the white branding was changed to a pattern to have the same effect, then it would jump to the top of the list
Look…you can be as condescending as you want. I explained my position very clearly. It is based on decades of experience in the bike industry, in marketing and in consumer products. No random Red Bull sports fan is gonna walk into a bike shop and say “Yeah, I’m a huge Max fan,…I just heard there is a Red Bull bike that costs $17K. I mean, I know it has nothing to do with Max, but it is Red Bull, man…here’s my credit card!!!”".
I’m curious how many of those Red Bull bikes they’ll make. If it’s like 10 of each size I’m sure they’ll have no problem selling them. That’s cheap based on what some people spend for other hobbies, watches etc. Still blows my mind though
edit3: ah no it doesn’t as it’s a female underside. need another male to male garmin quarter turn in there… Specialized generic light adapter is still the cleaner solution
