I know I’m super biased as a Crux 5 owner, but I put almost no stock into his testing, or any of their speed tests to be honest. The fact that one run was 13 seconds faster over 8 minutes means either the weather and wind were changing pretty significantly, or he wasn’t holding anywhere near the same position. Or both. But it doesn’t support the rest of the testing being very accurate. And that there were only 4 runs total. I’m not saying the Crux would still win, but I just want more data and more reliable data. I think they had the new Trek Madone faster than the S5 in one of their videos. Which is mostly just to say I don’t really put much stock in any of their head to head tests. I like their videos otherwise and they’re enjoyable to watch, but it’s like taking medical advice from Dr. Oz.
Official tire clearance for the Diverge is 50mm according to the Specialized website.
That is a head scratcher. I thought I had seen 55 somewhere, crazy that it’s only officially supporting 50’s. Maybe they were sandbagging the tire size a bit because specialized doesn’t sell any gravel tires bigger than 50mm… It’s crazy that an “adventure” bike released just last year would be positioning 50mm as a huge tire when it’s basically become the norm and almost all the tire brands have 55mm gravel tires in their lineup now.
I really want to see how the ride quality compares to the MOG, which is a fantastic bike. If it’s similar, then I might get one, I like the lightweight.
I’m wondering if Specialized is going to release a 55mm gravel tire eventually. None of their mtb tires test particularly fast, yet Keegan is usually pretty fond of MTB tires. I don’t think the specialized team has raced on anything bigger than a 50mm gravel tire this year.
I am looking hard at the new Roval Terra Integrated bars. Got my hands on them at the bike shop. Love the short drop and reach. Plus the bars come back a little as opposed to going forward like the road equivalent. I wish the tops were a little deeper. (And the price a lot less).
I’ve had them since day 1 and love them. So much more comfortable than the Rapide cockpit. I prefer the backsweep of the tops (compared to forward sweep on Rapide); feels more natural. And the shape is much more comfortable. I never found the super flat tops of the Aerofly or Rapide comfortable at all.
I see that they have made the bar reach quite short at 70mm compared to 75mm on the rapide. Did you use the same stem length as with your previous setup?
I did. My body isn’t that picky. I don’t notice 5mm.
Also note that the Crux 5 is longer than the 4. So for me, the Crux 5 has 7mm more reach than the 4, so losing 5mm on the bar reach actually nets +2mm in overall reach. I also pushed my saddle forward more. All of this to say my saddle to hood distance is exactly the same.
Same but it is by far the best color IMO (also liked the black/silver builds - not a fan of anythign two tone). I think I am going to order some RideWrap for it. Its too pretty not to try to protect lol
Curious to see what the S-Works weighs compared to the Pro.
Also, I’ve never understood RideWrap. To me, it just kind of kills the look of any bike. Spend all this money on a nice looking paint job and ruin it with plastic. Bikes are meant to be ridden. Just me.
Also, when did you order the frame? I had a chance to get S-Works as a preorder but went with the Pro because I didn’t want to wait. Just wondering how fast they’re fulfilling the preorders.

Going to convert Crux 4 to all road and try to use this as a Gravel and Road race bike, so trying to swap b/t two wheelsets. Undecided, but likely will try out the new Roval Terra Aero to start

Yea I used to think the same regarding RideWrap but I used it on my last Crux and was happy. Can’t really tell its on there tbh and has kept my frame in mint condition. I rode it through Unbound mud and was happy to have it. Saved my paint I reckon. If anything, it helps with resale value. But I realize its a tool not a jewel as well. I don’t get upset if it does get beat up.
I reached out to a LBS and placed an order in very end of June and it showed up yesterday. I don’t think I technically even did a “preorder”. I have a Spesh shop down the road and they told me fall at earliest so I just put an order through LBS in the meantime as I wanted to give them business. I think I got lucky tbh
My Pro 58 came in around 1050g so that’s a decent weight savings.
I guess everybody is different. Funnily enough, and maybe you won’t mind, but to me on gloss it hides pretty well but it looks really weird on matte frames. Something with the matte paint and the plastic layer doesn’t do it for me. But I also really love matte paint jobs so it changes it enough that it’s not really matte anymore. Frame looks sweet. Kind of wish I waited for that frame.
