SPD SL Peddle movement problem

I have some SPD SL pedals. (105). Recently, I noticed that I can push the pedal in and out on the axle. I will get my bike out of my car, hop on, and my foot will rub the crank. I then push out with my foot, and the pedal moves back into position. I have to do this every once in a while cause I push it in when cornering. Anyways. I have taken it apart and can find nothing wrong with the axle. No missing piece. Nothing

Is there something I am missing? Is it worth fixing or replacing? If I replace it, should I replace the entire pedal or just the axle?

Sounds like worn bearings in the pedal.

I guess a repair is possible if you know what you are doing but personally I would replace the pedals

Yeah. Depending on what’s wrong, you can get new axle assemblies, or rebuild the existing axles. Youtubes abound. If the pedal bodies are in great shape, you might do one of those and save a few bux. If not, new pedals might make more sense.
