Dish cleaning liquid (fairy liquid in the uk) has been a life-saver on many occasions - I assume due to it containing degreasers?

I hope you’re still OK OP?

Whatever you do or don’t do, do NOT leave this web page open on any device she may look at.

Tell her it was caused by an “old drivetrain” and that you need a new bike.

Seriously though, I did this exact same thing about 3 months ago. I premixed some Dawn dishsoap in very high concentration with some water, then blotted the area heavily with a sponge containing the mixture. Then hit it with my carpet shampooer, rinse and repeat. If you don’t have a shampooer, use a shopvac.

Btw, your wife will now give you the ok to get achain waxing setup.

Done the same exact thing, surprisingly, Windex works like a charm.

You could really mess that up; I’d let a pro handle that. My guess would be less than $150 and you could avoid having to replace all the carpet.

Some car detailers actually use that too. And there’s pretty nasty $hit that ends up staining carpets in cars.

I’ve had some early success with a bit of fairy liquid on a scourer, yet to give it another go but all seems promising. Although I haven’t been murdered yet there’s a chance she’s storing it for future payback

Anyone else reckon that post is from his wife covering her tracks on his login…:rofl::rofl:

I’ve had really good luck with this stuff:
Stain Devils

It’s not cheap for the tiny little container, but you can often find them on sale at the grocery store.

1:4 liquid dish soap mixed with a cup of warm water. Soak a cloth with this then put some on the stain and leave for 10min. Then blot with a clean cloth. Repeat. Dry with paper towels

Flowers and jewellery work wonders too.

Clean your drivetrain. Carry your bike frame upside down.

So what happened with this? Or do we need to send a search party?

Clearly the community has done all we can do to help. Better not to ask additional questions about outcomes.

gotta try some of the tips, we have a finished basement that has some spots on the carpet that have gotten some grease spots, hopefully something like folex can help get rid of some of the old spots

A couple of goes with the washing up liquid dabbed/gently rubbed onto the area and left to dry seems to have done a good job. Helps the carpet was dark to start with but thanks everyone. And I’m not dead!

Person 2: Nods ruefully, “I barely knew him.”

Person 1: “I’m sure he’s off to a better place…where it’s always sunny, the paving is new and your tires never go flat.”

Person 3: “What about his bike!”

Person 2: Stripping a component, “He won’t need this.”

Person 4: “Aye! I get his wheelset!”

I should have been clearer (more clear?) with my response … I’m not married, but live with my GF … So when I said I would accuse my GF … I was referring to the OP’s equivalent of his wife. If you’re married, DO NOT accuse your GF of this … Just want to clear my conscience …
