@djreynolds @chappo , absolutely – go easy and enjoy.
Found my old GOPRO files. Adding link to one of the pics
Too late for 2019, but we are heading back in 2020, and doing a less well known but highly recommended AdH area ride being the Col du Solude which is across from AdH.
Pitch black tunnels, challenging climbs, gravel sections, views of AdH, cliff edge road, peace & quiet
Climb to the pylone - Col du Solude
Did you enjoy it?
A pic of the AdH climb from opposite side of valley. That climb you described starts from Bourg and it’s the Villiard Notre Dame route, mostly gravel once past the tunnels
One of the best rides there! Bring the lights for the tunnels. They are not straight and tarmac is not great. But otherwise the road is very nice although steep. Only after the Villard Notre Dame the surface becomes rougher and then from the top there is around 3 km of gravel. The road to Ornon on the other side is in a bad condition and you have to be careful on the road down.
Awesome views along the way!
Sounds great. Cheers
St Michel de Maurienne > Telegraph > Valloire > Galibier > Bourg d’Oisans. From the top of the Galibier it’s down hill all the way to Bourg d’Oisans (approx. 30 miles). The Telegraph and Galibier will blow you away - epic in every sense.
nice tips
It’s not Alps but just south - I’ll be for 10 days in Provence. Any tips on rides I should do? Will stay in Cassis just east of Marseille and close to Avignon. I’ll do Mont Ventoux from at least two sides and Gorges de la Nesque. I also plan to ride in Luberon, Alpilles and Sainte-Baume natural parks. Thanks!
