I have zero stake in this product, but just recommending Lysol’s laundry disinfectant to really get those shorts / chamois c-l-e-a-n! I’ve been using it for 3 years and besides just working, it has had zero negative consequences on expensive, specialized fabrics.
Of course, it does an excellent job on all the other sweaty smelly gear, too. You can get it in any decent grocery store; this is link is just so you can see what it looks like:
In the UK I am not sure that is available.
We do have Halo Sports Wash though, found that works very well.

am I missing something? I have never pulled any of my kit out of the washer and thought “hmmm, this isn’t clean”
