Proper TrainerRoad and Zwift integration [Feature Request]

Really great. Easily 2 months, might even be more? Never really noted the duration on purpose before, but battery changes are very infrequent. Have my Vector 3 (power and cadence enabled) and HR connected to the CABLE, and ride 5 days a week.

Thanks and ordered one last night. It shipped today so we will see if I get it this week as I am in Atlanta and they are in MN.

More than likely next but will be nice to keep simplifying my setup cord and equipment wise.

You’re lucky, that’s almost as good as being nextdoor. I had to import it to South Africa.:rofl:

I’m very happy TR isn’t integrated with Zwift. Having the workout running outside Zwift means I don’t have to worry about Zwift app crashes or Bluetooth lockup’s losing my data or interrupting my ride. TR is far more reliable than Zwift.

When I do TR workouts, I have Zwift running at the same time (trainer disabled in Zwift, of course), both apps running on my PC using one ANT+ dongle and one Bluetooth dongle. TR app minimized (ie, workout profile etc. at the bottom of the screen, Zwift maximized (or sometimes made smaller to have mail visible etc.).

I’ve also used two Bluetooth dongles which worked until my son nabbed one of the dongles for his PC. Also sometimes will run Zwift or TR on my iPad and the other app on the PC. It’s worked extremely well; never had any issues.

As noted - the key is to ensure that your trainer isn’t controllable in Zwift.

Hahah and that I am sure it a long shipping time. Did the normal shipping and says it will be here Friday so only 4 days. Not bad at all but we will see.

Bluetooth is shared system wide so can’t really run two bluetooth adaptors in one computer. Ant is per app, you can’t have one adaptor per application.

I use two ant sticks so each app can do ant

On the initial question about the two app providers collaborating - I’d be very surprised if they did. These collaborations work when both parties clearly gain something. For example, TR + Garmin and Wahoo for outside workouts: this adds functionality to the head units, and differentiates them from their competitors, and adds functionality to TR; so everyone is interested. In a TR + Zwift collaboration, what would both parties gain? Are there a lot of riders who would add a TR subscription to their Zwift one for this? Are there a lot of riders who would add a Zwift subscription to their TR one?

Thats a super valid question, and to speak to that, we prioritize and work on feature requests that are the most effective in helping our athletes get faster.
That doesn’t mean that there are ā€˜bad’ requests or that we wouldn’t work on those ā€˜softball’ requests, but I hope that helps provide some transparency in how the team goes through the process of deciding where to direct energy and resources in new features. We want to focus on things that will be the MOST impactful in helping TrainerRoad athletes meet their goals. :sunglasses:

Hi again. Got my Npe cable the other day and set it up. Got it working with my Atv on zwift connecting to the ā€œcableā€ and then was using TR app to connect. I have a Neo bike and Wahoo Tickr.

Problem is the next day I went to ride and the cable connection did not show up and had to take battery out and redo it. Maybe I am missing something setup wise.

Usually do a TR workout on my Iphone that controls the trainer and run Zwift or even Fulgaz on my Tv via Apple tv.

Thanks for your help.

I’ve been getting the impression that this type of thing usually occurs when battery runs a bit low, BUT I have recently experienced completely random Bluetooth connection issues with a couple of my devices: TV would not pick up the CABLE, TR app wouldn’t pick up my HR monitor (Wahoo Tickr Fit) and just general befuddlement, which coincided with a ride I did on Fulgaz. But usually after restarting EVERY SINGLE device, and/or turning Bluetooth off and on or force quitting apps, everything works again.

Ok set it up again last night and the app said the battery was full strength. It should be as I just got it and thanks for replying.

As I said just using it so I can use Atv with Zwift or Fulgaz while I use my Iphone doing a TR workout.

Hope all the tech behave themselves now! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I just watched this on youtube https://youtu.be/ACerpKTWlRU?si=3H3EA760_B_E_La0 and was hopeful that Trainer Road would be one of the partners to push workouts. Finger crossed.

Anecdote: this would make me pay for TR.

I’ll come back to TR if this integration to Zwift becomes a feature.

As much as I’m a fan of TR and love all the new features that make it so good I found that I just can’t hack more than a month or so staring at a graph every time I’m training indoors. My motivation to ride just wains and I bailed to another platform that does let me ride it’s workouts in Zwift (and Indie Velo).

I have tried the workarounds but found them clunkly and a faff to set up each session.

Please TR - take this on board as a feature if this API allows.

Yes, please do. Avid TR and Zwift User here. This should be a no-brainer! I soooo hope TR is a Launch-Partner for this integration! :crossed_fingers:
