i tried powermatch at the beginning of this year and i gave up, to much probs with drop outs and so on, it was impossible that my Vector 3 control the NEO2 with the old Powermatch.
With the new Powermatch it is fantastic, no power difference between the workout recorded with TR and at the same time on my Edge 830.
In the time between i had to handle 2 different FTP settings in TR and on Garmin side because of the big difference of NEO2 and Vector 3 (10-15 Watt) and now they are really equal and totally stable to ride with a good feeling!
Keen to try this, and even more hopeful that it will fix myproblems. I’ve had to ditch using my dual sided 4iiii with a tacx flux due to the variation and lag in matching prescribed power.
@alhan any chance I could get added to the test group, even if the official update is imminent? I would really like to avoid having to use a dual sided PM as a cadence sensor!
I’ve struggled with PowerMatch for years with large changes in wattage. Going from low wattage to Vo2Max for example will see me overshoot the interval for 30 secs and then when it’s over go way under for about a minute. I’m running a Kickr18 with Stages Gen II.
I was so excited to see ePM get released today and crossed my fingers that this would correct things. Here’s my ride of Tunemah from last year:
and from just this evening:
You can see that the Kickr is responding to the prescribed wattage so much better. Huge thanks to the TR for working on improving this.
The nerd side of me wants to know but realize the how helping competitors would be bad. Hoping that in this development maybe you came up with ways to make it even better if the protocol changed (extra data being sent from the trainer or control messages sent to the trainer)
@alhan i have one last questions, what happens with workouts like " 20 Minute FTP Test" or " H.A. & A.C. Power Profile Test when the test intervals will automatically switch from ERG mode to SLOPE or LEVEL mode if you are on an electronic trainer. This means you might need tto shift or adjust the level when these intervals start. TrainerRoad will not hold the resistance to the target like the rest of the workout.
Could it be a prob for Power Match?
i only want to be prepared, when i ride them in the next future?
Power Match only ever applies when using ERG mode. At any point when in Resistance or Standard mode (manually selected or workout swapped), the trainer power data is ignored.
For RES or STD: You are in control of power value via the gearing on the bike, your input to the bike, and the ability to alter the RES or STD value in TrainerRoad. This is true when you choose the RES or STD mode in the Devices screen (or live workout screen on Win/Mac), as well as when the trainer mode switches automatically via testing like the 1x 20 minute test.
i mean more, during the switchoff of from ERG mode to Level mode my Vector 3 is the primary Powermeter and when switch back by the workout to ERG the powermatch continue working, sorry for my bad english?
Yes, assuming you have Power Match “enabled” (Which is the default. You have to disable it in the Device settings), you will always be using Power Match anytime the trainer and app are in ERG mode.
The ERG mode and Power Match are linked (again, unless you choose to turn it off).
