Plan Builder should ask about your availability before creating the schedule

When building a training plan, if would be helpful if the software asked you a few questions about your weekly schedule, and how much time you had available on which days.

I know you can manually edit and move around the program’s suggested schedule, but this often causes other problems that you have to troubleshoot. For instance, I can never train on Sunday or Monday. The custom training plan builder suggests 3 hard sessions, and 1 dynamic endurance, but If i move the 4 workouts into the 5 day window I have available (in any order), the AI will convert one of the hard intervals sessions into an endurance ride to prevent fatigue. You see where I’m going? The custom plan builder would give me better suggestions if it knew my schedule.

I’ve wished this for quite a while! I want to be able to tell it I plan to do a strength workout on a certain day each week, and THEN have it tell me what it thinks would be the optimal days and times to do certain workouts. Right now if you make any changes whatsoever you are left in the dark as to those changes being detrimental or productive.

Hey @Adam_Gardiner

What you’re describing sounds like out fatigue management system trying to find the most optimal training vs. recovery for you based on your training history so you can hit every workout with quality. However, you’re in control of these changes, so if say changing your Wednesday workout to your Rest Day on Thursday triggers a Yellow Day the next day, you can always pin the workout so it remains.

All this said, your fitness changes, so as your fitness grows you may find that making the same change in the future may have a different outcome. I would say this is the nice thing about the AI Simulation Window; you can see how changes to your training affect your future fitness.

Hi Caro, The TrainerRoad AI and fatigue detection are fantastic features. I think that the more information TrainerRoad has about each person’s individual life schedule, the better! Maybe you could give a quick questionnaire every time a customer starts a new training plan.

I agree. Once you start moving things around, you are building the plan yourself. (Which should also be an option of course)

I would expect to give my availability, maybe even each week (like with ChatGPT or JOIN) and the AI tells me the optimal hard days, types of workouts etc based on said hours.

Say I’ll miss two days this week. How do I rearrange my workouts? If I scrap a hard one, do I switch an endurance ride somewhere else? Which type of workout do I need to do then? All these questions you have to answer yourself, and then the AI will say “Oh, in that case a level three 3.4 Over-unders (which I had to choose) is best”.

Yep. It shouldn’t only be the trad 7 day workweek either. Some people have different work schedules, like 3 days on/2 days off, etc… and others might benefit from a 9 day schedule rather than 7 days.

Great feedback! I will take it to the team.

this!! I work a non traditional rotating schedule and get frustrated when I am scheduled my long ride on sat. I try to move it but then it effects what else i am given. I wish there was just an option to plug in availability and let the system create around that.
