Peloton's blockbuster IPO (NASDAQ: PTON): What impact, if any, do you see it having on TrainerRoad?

I’ve been thinking about buying a little if it goes to $6. It’s so low, the losses are minimal if it goes bust, but if it goes to $20 again, it’s upgrade your bike money.

I picked up a few shares at the last big one day drop, would consider adding more after this drop but I don’t have free funds to do it.

What is magic about $6? The trend has been down for a month now. I wouldn’t throw any money at this dog.

They beat earnings by losing less than guidance.

If you want to gamble, biotech stocks are probably better. Pot stocks are scraping bottom…

52 week low and it’s a stock that bounces up and down.

To me that is not a great criteria for buying a stock. To me 52 week low, no sign of future profitability, and 2M bikes recalled means hold off on this turd.

At least wait until the trend reverses to the upward direction.

I wonder what the cost of this will be for peloton? Just the return shipping on those things is probably massive given their size and weight

According to the article I saw, they’re estimating $8 million

My wife said they are mailing her a part.

Wonder what compliance rate they factor into that estimate…do they assume all 2.2M units or just some reasonable %?

But on the face of it, it seems reasonable. Would love to know how fast they can get a couple million posts in the US, though…even by boat, the freight charges alone are gonna be HUGE. Think a 40ft container is currently in the $8-$10K range. While you can cram a crapton of SP into 40ft, I doubt you can max out the space due to weight. And 2 million posts are still a LOT of posts.

Not sure what their post attachment weights At 5 lbs a post it would be a lot of weight. 5lb x 2million. 40’ Container Weight limit: 59,200 lbs. I assume they are figuring not everyone rides them anymore.

My first reaction was “that is way too high a weight”….then I went and looked at the actual post. :astonished::astonished: Probably not too far off.

Wow…what a colossal muck-up. How does something that big fail during use? Admittedly, it is an extremely small failure rate (bordering on minuscule), but damn.

Suddenly $8m to cover the recall seems low.

Have they said whether or not people who are just using the bike to hang laundry need to replace the post?

(I kid, I kid)

Tall heavy people riding the bike. The post is very robust, but the seat tube stops quite low, and the seat tube can extent out well over a foot. There’s no way my 5’6” 130 lb wife is breaking her bike.

Welp…looks like I am gonna get a Peloton now.
