Hi all, thought I’d share a tip from peaks challenge in Australia on dealing with eating a constant array of gels and sweet food on long long rides. I just completed Peaks Challenge at falls creek in Victoria, Australia in 9:02 which is 235km and 4600m climbing.
I’ve started using san Pellegrino sparking water in my water bottles towards the mid point and end of the rides. It’s much more bitter than straight water and the carbonation helps to cut through the sugary muck of gels and other things.
It obviously doesn’t need to be that, but it’s a little higher in minerals than our local tap water. I’ve also used that with a sodastream carbonated and that works just as well.
Give it a go, it might surprise you.
