NorCal vs Legion

Alec was listed in the results of Blue Dome as DSQ and was DNS the rest of the weekend, presumably having been sent home.

Depends on the race sanctioning body. If it’s USAC, there should be a process to get them DQed with possible suspension of license (no idea how successful that would be, but USAC does have a code of conduct). If it’s not USAC, it’s basically the Wild West.

So a wild chop across a straightaway (https://www.instagram.com/p/CtT20p9uwOY/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA%3D%3D) and a bike stomp in one week. When will the media stop glorifying this team and/or partners stop their associations with them. Are we really in the minority of the cycling fandom that finds them largely immature / hypocritical / tactically dirty?

Yes. There is also a bit of a doom loop around here when it comes to stuff they do that they get ripped for that other teams will get a bit of a pass on. Look at their social medias, people largely dont care. Nor do their sponsors.

I didn’t see a wild chop. She sprinted ahead of the other rider so that she could beat her to the turn. And it appears that she did beat the other rider into the turn. There’s no holding your line rule other than for the sprint finish. Chopping would have been pushing the other riders into the barriers or something. Looks like a good tactic to me if you are strong enough to pull it off.

I’m not a Legion fan at all but I’m a Kendall Ryan fan. She gives good Insta!

Fait enough Kilz - for whatever reason they get under my skin, likely because I’ve been such a NorCal fan over the years but good perspective.

Jeff is awesome and that drama was sooooooo stupid from Justin’s side. Its really mostly Justin but sometimes the dude just needs to just take a few deep breaths before he responds to stuff. But at the same time its weird how much people will ONLY jump on the legion hate train and ignore the good they do. Hell Jeff is/was very complimentary of them. I also dont think a lot of the meme pages help this either, they talk a whole lot of shit behind the anonymity of a meme page which then just turns into a big, negative circle jerk. I think the fact all the dudes/ladies on legion are pretty respected amongst their pears is pretty telling.

Either rule or both could/would apply

1N8. No rider may make an abrupt motion so as to interfere with the forward progress of another rider, either intentionally or by accident.
1N9. Dangerous Rider. Any rider who appears to present a danger to the other competitors may be disqualified by the Chief Referee, either before, during, or after a race.

May want to rewatch or get your eyes checked out bud. She looked over her shoulder and saw another rider coming up and swerved straight into her across the entire course. She literally left her own train and the better line to ride the other person into the barriers. She was rightfully relegated for her stupid antics. Stop defending this dangerous riding.

You forgot the part where she got out of the saddle and sprinted ahead of the other rider, … bud.

How is that even relevant? Does that change the fact that she changed her line and rode the other person into the barrier? You still have to hold your line even if you’re sprinting.

The instagram link above has it, you just have to click next after the meme. Jonathan Crane has a video on his YouTube channel as well and discusses it.

I love crit racing, and I’m not opposed to the notion that a little trash talk and the occasional pointy elbow is part of racing, but the whole NorCal/Legion thing is a big turnoff to me. I primarily watch racing to see racing, and I don’t need a bunch of young bulls snorting and pawing the ground to make a good race entertaining.

I feel like most riders in the Peloton don’t want to deal with the drama/backlash that comes with publicly calling out Legion. I mean Jeff seems pretty respectful and look at the pushback he got.

Because she got ahead of the other rider.

I don’t see that on the video. I’ve only watched that instagram video. That’s all I’m going by.

So, I’m done arguing this. I have no dog in this fight and I just don’t care. I watched the video and read the comments on Insta and it just looks like people are piling on for the sake of piling on.

It looked like a dumb move to jump off your train but I saw nobody pushed into the barriers.

Looks like nothing compared to all the other crit garbage I’ve seen.

She got ahead of her because she swerved and cut her off…likely causing the other rider to brake / back off.

Its not calling them out tho its more the being publicly complimentary. You can find plenty of instances of it. Overall I dont really care one way or another about them but i do think the hatred they get is pretty often way over the top.

That was sort of my 100% uninformed impression. I could be mistaken…but I think they are super active on social media? They seem like the only team anyone has heard of, so it makes sense they would be the only team that gets negative comments.

Assuming that is the case…they should just stfu and take the good publicity with the bad.

Because they are the biggest fish in the pond and trying to be ambassadors of the sport, they should actually try to be role models.

Looks like the other rider had to swerve and slow to avoid getting her front wheel taken out?
