New wheel on trainer

Hi,
I have a vector power meter so I have been fine with my dumb trainer for this long. So I don’t need to calibrate the trainer each time? My husband does not have a power meter so he would rely on the kickr for that.

Kids + bike spokes = disaster :slightly_smiling_face:

If you have on bike power meter you do not need to calibrate the trainer every time. If you do NOT have on bike power meter you do need to calibrate to adjust for things like tire pressure, wheel tension, tire compound, and Im sure others.

I have a vortex and it works. If you’re not on the main floor of said apartment and you like your neighbors…

Look for the 4iiii trainer
or find the older version stac zero … they’re the most silent ones and as mentioned by someone else, it works with magnets so wouldnt be compatible with carbon wheels.

  • Little known, but it’s also not recommended for aluminum rims with pinned joints. That is because the steel used in the pins is problematic.

  • They say you need a welded aluminum rim, with no pins, for proper use. So it’s a bit more tricky than just picking any aluminum rim wheel.
