Just got this trainer. What is xdr?
XDR is a freehub driver standard created by SRAM, for use with their new road bikes using the 10-## cassettes.
Thats looks like a specific axle spacer that might be necessarily to use if/when someone swaps the the XDR driver on the trainer. Iâd expect that is covered on their instructions.
Not that I have seen.
You get some form of info when you do a spindown calibrate on the older Wahoo trainers, but since the V5 and V6 are automatically calibrated, thatâs an unnecessary step. I do think its possible to force a manual calibration, but donât know the steps an if they differ from the old ones.
another question :
The wifi dircon can only connect to 1 device at any given time? I was using it on my zwift and then i try to connect it with TR, it doesnât connect.
Sure could be, and similar to BLE if thatâs the case.
I will be setting up my V6 today and will see how mine works.
OK, I wonât claim this as conclusive, but I was not able to get fully functional connection using DC WiFi on two apps.
- I am able to connect to TR and get data. Iâm able to also connect to Z, but it shows no data.
- Flip & pair to Z works gets data. But then I am unable to connect to DC in TR once Z is set.
I am taking this to mean you only get a single 1:1 DC pairing via WiFi at least. I have the actual DC for wired, but have not tested that yet. I may try that with a hard line to see if that is a separate connection vs the WiFi.
Thanks, Shane. Any idea if a WiFi and hardwire DC would be âdifferentâ and allow connection to each one with a separate app?
Well thatâs a buzz kill. A full blown TCP/IP stack eats a lot of resources, but there are lightweight implementations for microcontrollers. Sounds like Wahooâs current implementation limits it to 1 connection.
Kinda of like a web server that can only support one user and all other connections are denied. For those trying to understand. Assuming thatâs the issue.
So far the uninitiated (NEO user here), you can simultaneously run a BLE program like Zwift while the wifi runs something like TR?
Also, because Iâve never ridden oneâŚhow does the V5/v6 do with standing start sprints and sprints above 1500 watts? Neo is just terrible for it because even from a stable 1000 watts its pretty easy to make it spin out when you stand up.
TIA>
Sort of. You can only have 1 program controlling resistance at a given time but you can have 1 service controlling and the other just reading the power data. You should be able to do this with your NEO though already, just with 1 using BLE and the other ANT+.
able to do some test today. hereâs a comparism between Assioma and the trainer using golden cheetah. Consider my assioma is 3 yrs oldâŚ
I am very happy with the result.
Anyone with a V6 having problems with direct connect working in Zwift? TR finds the Ethernet KICKR option near instantly, but tried it on Zwift for the first time today and it wonât show on any device I try on.
@tgarson On RGT once I started pedaling the DirCon option showed up immediately, Havenât tried Zwift yet.
Yep, on 5.0.12. Trainer is awake and wifi status indicator light is solid white on the KICKR before attempting to connect.
I thought maybe itâs a quirk related to one device being on 2.4 vs the other being on 5 GHz but my same devices that find the DIRCON option in TR donât find it in Zwift. I havenât tried other apps like RGT yet but may try to see if itâs Zwift only.
- Off topic, but I am happy to see that Wahoo actually included a âsleepâ function for the trainer. No idea how far back it goes, but my V3 stayed âonâ all the time. Good to see generally speaking and I hope it leads to even modest power conservation.
FML. After receiving a Justo with vibration and sending it back, I now got a Kickr v6 that reads 10 watts too high
Sell it for a profit to someone on the Zwift racing scene /jk
What are you comparing it to? Are you sure your other sensor isnât the inaccurate one? Not that I exclude the possibility of there being an issue with the KICKR, especially given my first V6 was either damaged or defective.
Whatâs your baseline for saying itâs 10 watts too high? Iâve had 2 Quarq PMs, a 4iii single side PM, 2 Kickr, and Garmin Rally pedals. None of them were the same. One of the Quarqs is very close (1-2%) of my old Kickr. And thatâs pretty much in spec of the +/- 1-2% accuracy. The Rallyâs have been more like 6-8%. Which one is accurate? I have no idea and donât really care. I do most interval work on the trainer and so just use the Kickr. Outside rides I do group rides or long endurance so not too focused on exact power.
If you have a power meter on your bike, use PowerMatch and itâs a moot issue. Or let AI eventually calibrate to your new Kickr.
