FedEx just dropped this off. I wasn’t expecting to get it so soon (directly from Saris). I’m leaving town tomorrow morning so I won’t get a chance to ride before next week, but I’m looking forward to my first rocker plate.
Is that the MP1?
Yup.
I’ve been waiting for Clever training to get mine in, bought it Nov 23.
Let me know what you think. If I ever see a sale or maybe a work bonus in March I might treat myself.
Damn, mine got delayed 'til mid January.
Jealous! Can’t wait to get mine.
I just got an update email from Sales at Clever training concerning the MP1 I have on order , Saris said won’t be out until Early February now. So something is going on.
Crap, bummer for you. I got an email with a link to preorder a week or so ago. I skipped it, but heard some others may have ordered.
Not sure what is behind the delay.
Got the same email. Sounds like they are working out some issues. Rather see the delay and a better product than getting it early and having issues.
"Thank you for your pre-order for the Saris MP1 NFinity Motion Platform. Saris recently informed us another delay on this product to ensure quality control and your satisfaction.
As a result of this delay, we do not anticipate having the MP1 prior to early February."
I agree on the delay, Hope its a better product because of it, but man my winter just got longer! Haha
Have you set it up and ridden it yet? Looks like you got one of the only ones before the delay. I was told not until mid feb…
I have not read this yet, but could be interesting.
My buddy has an H1 with a very similar clicking noise…did you get this resolved? if so, how?
(Literally asking for a friend! )
After listening to the latest cycling tips nerd alert podcast about this I think this will be a very interesting tool for looking at stuff like this. Each sensor has a gyroscope and accelerometer to you can track how the bike moves and how different parts of the cyclist move.
Yeah, I mildly considered getting a set for fitting and my own use.
Might get lost in the rabbit hole with how new and unknown the whole thing really is though, at least initially.
It looks like a way to collect a massive amount of detailed data, and without good tools to analyze it and identify bad data (ie loose sensor) I wouldn’t know what to do with it. As a numbers geek I find this very intriguing, but I’d need to know what to do with the data. I think they have a lot of education to do so that people can actually use this system and benefit from it. For what it does it seems reasonably priced.
No graphs showing motion while riding outside. Disappointing.
Agreed. It should be part of the analysis. It’s not a surprise to see differences between rigid and motion on the trainer.
I want to know the similarities and differences between outside and motion plates as well.
I have not watched this (just showed up on my notifications), but curious to hear what they say now, after more time and having it in their hands (vs the promo shoot a while back).
His comments are in alignment with my experience so far with the MP1. I’ve gotten three rides in so far. With cadences in the 80 to 100 range the movement is subtle fore and aft. As I drop cadence it becomes more pronounced. Side to side rockering is primarily when working out of the saddle.
It definitely adds to the comfort, and those with really rigid trainers like the Kickr and Hammer, will likely really notice it a lot. I like to do longer rides on the weekends, and if the weather is forcing me inside, the MP1 should help facilitate these workouts.
There are likely many confounding variables, but I did pull off a lifetime 1 hour 10 min power PR on Sunday doing extended sweet spot work on the MP1. This was after two prior days of pretty hard on the bike training, so maybe, just maybe, the MP1 kept me a little bit fresher.
Interesting comment at the end of the video of a Saris bike coming incorporating the technology…
