New 2025 Specialized Crux?

The Crux is in no way aero. There is no need for internal cables. This isn’t the bike you want if you are looking for aero.

I want a light, aero bike that can fit 50mm tires. That’s all

Crazy how bike manufactures are slow on this one.

Crux is already light… making it aero would be :fire:

So they took the Aethos and made an offroad version in the Crux. Then, they took everything they learned from making the Aethos to make the Tarmac SL8. You’d think the next step would be make an offroad version of the Tarmac. Aero and light, room for big wheels. My only hope is that they get rid of the god awful looking speed sniffer headtube. Singlehandedly took one of the best looking bikes out there in my opinion (SL7) and created one of the ugliest bikes out there in the SL8.

Why can’t they make this exact bike with integrated cockpit and hidden cables?

That defeats the purpose if this bike. Designed to be simple. The tubes aren’t aero and neither is the cabling.

My bet is the next Crux is a lightweight race gravel bike with aero touches, integrated cables, more tire clearance, and wide and deep Roval wheels. Yes, like a gravel SL8.

Aero sells bikes these days.

you cant have the cake and eat it at the same time.

Or… it goes the direction of the new Scott GR and turns into an epic-ish hard tail frame. New 20 pound “more capable” gravel bike.

While I’d prefer (and buy) what you suggest I see most gravel going bigger rather than lighter (i.e. the stigmata and Scott mentioned above). Let’s hope you’re right!

Question for the folks following this thread

  1. Anyone heard any more rumors on a new Crux? From what I have been reading we won’t get one this year but new diverge could show up for Unbound

  2. What handlebars are folks running on their current Crux? Anyone have the roval rapide cockpit - if so, how do you like it?

I’d still be surprised if we get an updated model this year after they just released one.

I’m still running the stock Roval Terra on my 2023 and happy with it.

Agree but I personally don’t count the UDH frame as “new”. It’s same exact mold / frame otherwise.

I know people make that argument, but I doubt Spesh would. They had to modify their frames and make all the changes that come with that. I don’t think they would have made that investment if they were planning to replace it a few months later.

What did they have to modify other than dropout? A lot of other companies basically just updated same frame to UDH. I would be shocked if that’s is actually the new gen and we don’t get another update for 3 years is what I am saying. Maybe I am wrong tho!

They had to pay the designers, testers, manufacturers, marketers, support, etc. I’m not trying to make it bigger than it is, but it does cost time and money to implement a change across such a large and highly integrated system. I’m just saying that if they were going to turn around and introduce a new model in early 2025, I doubt they would have done all that in 2024. I agree, I don’t think the next model is 3 years away, but I also didn’t think it would be coming in the next few months after the change either.

As far as design changes go, it’s a small one, yes, they would have had to retest etc, but for a company that large, the impact is small. This would come under the continuous improvement dept of a business. a new crux will definitely be in the works and will be developed by the new products dept.

Will we see it at unbound? maybe prototypes, doubt youll get the launch. I wouldn’t be surprised if they try and focus the STR for an unbound specific bike.
