Let's see your paincave!

I have the luxury of a good bit of space, but Im wondering, doesnt being so close to the walls bother you in this set up? I moved my trainer over near my workbench for a while and it drove me nuts.

just curious, is it just me?

Yes :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Nice job removing those front wheels :+1: As I also have quite confined space for my trainer set up have to consider doing the same. Any downsides?

My paincave is basically my living room with a repurposed HTPC in a DIY rack, a first gen Neo.
Depending on the season switching between my ultimate and Speedmax.

Dual screen for TrainerRoad and Zwift. Beamerscreen and yoga-ball thingie in the background

Amazing! I was literally looking at something similar from Dunsterhouse.

I was about to pull the trigger on a 4x3m Rhine Log Cabin, but my wife is due to give birth any minute, and i can’t justify the building work at this precise moment.

What size is this build, and which cabin is it?

Can’t wait to see what it looks like from the inside!

Hi its a Helena Right, 4.5x2.8m. With an “Adam II” shed going on the end too.

I chose this one as I needed a really secure and insulated option as I’ll be using it as an office and to keep my snakes in too

It does save space, but actually not THAT much, since my fans are still in the same place so I really am using up just as much floor. It definitely saves space visually, which I thought was just as important because I work in that room too and don’t want to feel cramped.

The other reasons I did it were because my tri bike has latex tubes which were always flat and I didn’t want to have to pump them up, and the CX bike has muddy tires that I don’t want to scrub spotless continually, so this was much easier.

Only other downside would be that the front mount needs to be very close to perfectly level, otherwise your bars will turn themselves. My floor is very out-of-level (one of my trainer legs has a 2cm shim under it, the other is flat on the ground), but I made was able to shim the front mount and it’s perfectly fine now.

This is inspiring - you have the plans for this?

This is awesome - do you have plans you used?

Tried to really make my corner of the garage personal and inspiring for my time on the bike… in need of a fan upgrade. Making use of my now useless high school wood shop CD holder project :joy:
PS - I love scrolling through this thread.

A friend of mine built it for me so no plans sorry. I’ll try to get a full picture of the outside later so you can see how it looks

Super ghetto setup here, it’s cold in the basement so the fan is decommissioned for now. I like to work off of the cell phone so I can pause, adjust effort and scroll forward easily, so I built up a phone holder for, oh, maybe $10 in parts. Cell phone holder from amazon, a zip tie and a chunk of broken kayak paddle

I like to not have the front wheel contained firmly, I like it to be able to wiggle around ('cause I can never be satisfied with how straight it is when it’s in one of those trainer wheel bases), so just a few dumbbell weights puts it in the right place.

Takes less than a minute to get the bike (that I use for commute pretty often) into the trainer and the phone arm thingy attached to it and off I go. I can’t call it a pain cave because that’s not how I see it, more like body ability exploration facility.

Hard to get a decent photo from the outside but here it is. As you can see there is another room at the end which we use to store garden stuff in. Think it’s around 8 x 3.5m externally.

Finally got round to setting up.

I had to rig up that stick in the post above because if my phone is anywhere close to the stem it ends up getting sweat dripped on it and then it goes crazy with ghost taps and ruins workouts. Maybe you’re better with sweat management but for me that position flat out doesn’t work at all.

Thanks for the tip. Its something I’ll think about

Got my first trainer and the paincave/office begins. Now I need some inspiration for the walls.

Any recommendations for a bike stand/wall mount that doesn’t require a back wheel to be on?

Strongly suggest you get something for the floor to protect the carpet from sweat. At a fabric store you can get plastic sheet of various thickness. Just look where the bolts of material is sold. Cheap and effective.

Otherwise, very nice setup. What is the noose by the window?
