I ran an Ardent Race front and back last year. I think they were 2.3’s, but not positive. I did several pre-rides and the course was really, really loose. Not just loose over hard, but loose rocks/marbles on lots of downhill and sharp off camber turns. The real problem was that this was a brand new trail in many sections and it just wasn’t ridden in yet. Race day was quite a bit better, even with the sloppy conditions on lap 2. I’ve been out there once since last year’s race and significant portions of the course were no longer marked trails and already getting overgrown (couldn’t even tell where the trail was). If they are going to use the same course again, they really need to get it remarked and try to get some people riding it again.
Assuming they use the same course, I’ll probably run the Ardent race’s again, maybe an Ikon in the rear. I love the Aspens and ran them at Leadville Stage race last year, but I think there is too much loose stuff at the Rattler for Aspens unless they get some serious traffic on the trail before the race.
Looks like they will be doing a live lotto drawing on Facebook. If you are interested in finding out if you are in as fast as possible this is your best bet:
Same here, initially told I lost the lottery, but got another email saying I’m in and my card charged. I thought you had the opportunity to decline so I am confused…
And their version of “defer” for the lottery means you pay now and you still need to pay for next year. The only free deferral is when you get in at a qualifying event and you can do it that year or defer to the next (and you have to decide within a few days when you pay. At least that’s my understanding.
I had a similar experience to others, denied, followed by (3 hours later) a congratulatory email saying I was in. CC was successfully charged. Love a good emotional rollercoaster ride.
I am skeptical. I would pumped to be in but given the seemingly widespread “double email” situation (per the comments in IG on their most recent post and forum feedback) I am not holding my breath.
Looks like this rejection followed by acceptance is pretty common. Lots of mentions on the Leadville participants Facebook page. My guess is runsignup was sent or used the wrong list for charging customers… going to be some unhappy people tomorrow
Yes - probably so. What’s interesting is the video only shows about 850 entrys, and there is a major skip at about 4 min. Not saying that has a connection, but def some weird stuff going on. 850 seems low to me?
850 seems high to me. If about 1700 racers are registered that only leaves half the slots available via qualifying. I would have thought more slots are available via qualifying than the lottery…
