A quick caution for anyone using the TR zones on their Garmin.
When you load the zones into Garmin, they are numbered, Z1, Z2, etc.
However, when you look at the zones after a ride, instead of numbers, they have names. The problem is that Garmin doesn’t have a zone labeled SS. It skips straight from tempo to threshold. Here is how it displays Bukit, which is over-unders: all the unders (SS) are shown as threshold, while the overs (threshold) are shown as mostly VO2 max (and even some anaerobic, but I think that’s just an artifact of how precisely the lines between zones are drawn behind the scenes).
All this is to say, if you are using your watch to track zones during a ride, be sure you know how to read what it’s telling you. (I dual-record but never thought to display zones there, so I don’t know whether it displays Z-numbers or names.)
It would be nice for TR to display the blue bars in other colors! This would provide good visual reinforcement that intensity changes are still within the planned zone.
