Has van der Poel redefined how we should train?

And let’s not forget he’s beating Nino Schurter in the World Cup XC series.

Sagan was in 2009 - XC junior world champion and ALSO Cyclocross Junior World Champion… His ex-wife Zuzana is from my city (Dolny Kubin) so we know them here so well… before they got married, many times Peter sit on bike in Zilina, rode to Dolny Kubin to visit Zuzana… and to have a group ride here…

He is human:

I wouldn’t have minded seeing him win, however, this is also big relief for me. Cycling is different to 20 years ago. There will always be some uncertainty but these days you see more riders blow up completely.

And I blew up exactly in the same fashion as he did in my A-race this year. I have something in common with MvdP

It was amazing just how quickly (from looking strong and in control), his plug got pulled, and then there was nothing…

Didn’t eat enough in the cold and rain.

After 250km when the hunger knock comes it doesn’t come gently

Yeah, it was just such a shock, to me at least. It was like something from an amateur race I might find myself in.

Was watching Stage 2 of Tour De Suisse today with MVDP doing the Unexpected yet again. And I realize I just like racing a lot better with him, Van Aert, and Tom Peacock and the other multidisciplinary riders in the mix. Julian is the other main racer who seems to stir the pot. One thing I’ve noticed is that they do take a longer breaks between their goals and they really really focus on what they want to accomplish. So when we see them they are at their best. Not many junk races or racing to get form.
