GRX Power Meter Options

thx to all, yes, cadence is measured alright.

The spindle interface for the Praxis isn’t the same as Shimano.

Hi! Ive read that you have a Shimano GRX RX600 crank and you replaced the left crankarm with a 4III Powermeter right? Does that work nicely? I also read somewhere that it increased or decreased the qfactor and then its different then on the driveside? Do you have this problem?

I am in the market for a PM on my new Canyon inflite thats comes with Shimano GRX RX600 165mm cranks. Only one i could find that is reasonable priced atm is the 105 from 4III

hi, that works perfectly and actually I do not see, measure or feel the slightest difference. Maybe m measuring is not precise enough, but I would not overthink that.
Being sensible to knee pain i can happily say, somfar after about 6 weeks no issues despite lots of workouts.
Go for it and try it. It took my training to another level, absolutely worth the 200€.

Probably a silly question but what do people use for spacers to compensate for the 2.5mm offset? Just a couple of correctly sized washers? And should I put one at the BB end and one at the pedal end?

Reason for asking is that I can only get my hands on a 4iiii 105 left side crank power meter and I’d like to make sure that I offset the pedal because I’ve suffered from knee problems in the past.

Something like these should work on the spindle. I had to use them back when I had a Canyon Endurace and the PM pod needed a bit more clearance.

Thanks @FrankTuna I notice that they come in 0.5mm thickness so 5 of those should do the job nicely.

I’m struggling with this right now. I have a 2021 Trek Checkpoint ALR 5. It came with GRX 600 cranks.

Everything I’ve read says that there isn’t enough clearance for a left side crank PM. I also tried the AAA battery test 4iii recommends, and there isn’t enough room. I can say that there isn’t even enough clearance my wahoo cadence sensor.

The Checkpoint is my commuter, more casual, and gravel bike. I have a different bike for my trainer and longer road rides. Given that, I don’t want to break the bank on a power meter, but I’d still like one (I also want cadence numbers). What’s the most cost effective solution? Drive side PM from 4iii? Modified pedals? Something else?

Thanks,

Will

Still not decided on a power meter for my gravel bike. Trying to figure out whether the extra for Garmin SPD lefthand pedals are a better option over a stages lh crank.

They’re about Ā£200 more but are easier to move to my MTB if I take it on an epic day out or anything else in the future.

Nothing in stock currently for 170mm options so got time to save a bit more but unsure of long term quality of the pedals in a muddy harder life at least a crank is pretty protected from damage.

Any one tried the SPD varients of the new Garmin’s?

power2max now offering a GRX 2x crankset that that takes the official Shimano chainrings. They have however gone up by €50. Does anyone have any input on the edition version vs the aldhu version. Is it just a weight thing? they are priced €100 different.

You thinking the full Rotor Cranks & Spindle setup? If so then I think it’s Q factor. If it is Q, then its a matter of checking crank to chain stay clearance.

Nah all that jazz is the same (Q factor etc). I think it’s just a less machined, possibly lower quality aluminium. Just wondering if the extra 100 euro for the aldhu version is really worth it. Any performance benefit besides weight?

This is all I’ve seen. Where did you see the option for Shimano GRX chainrings? I’ve only been able to find the power2max gravel chainrings in 104bcd.

Hello everyone,
I just came across the Magene P505 crank based power meter and was wondering if anybody has tried these - what was the experience? I have a GRX600 crankset with 46/30 and was looking to upgrade to 48/31. Instead of upgrading to GRX810, I thought of upgrading to the Magene Powermeter with 48/31 chainrings.

Any recommendations or advice?

I don’t think the Magene will work with GRX chainrings as it’s 110bcd unless they came out with a new version (which would be awesome)

I’m running a Quarq Dzero with 46/34 rings and a GRX FD with no issues on my Grizl.

power2max has a version you could swap your GRX rings onto
