Good Classifieds Source - to sell

I’ve got a brand new pair of MTB shoes and new RockShox fork I need to sell. Beyond FaceBook Marketplace, anyone have good luck else where?

To me ebay is the way to go. You can check completed auctions to estimate a selling price. You don’t have to deal with tire kickers, low ballers, or people in person.

Maybe PinkBike? I’ve had good luck there or FB Marketplace but sometimes it’s not worth the hassle so Ebay is a last resort.

I should have said “beyond” eBay but that’s prolly the last/next option.

As a buyer I always goto Craigslist first

The ease/integration of shipping from ebay is nice, but man they take a big chunk. Every time I sell something and then get a payout from ebay I’m like “that’s it?”

I don’t know how anyone makes money flipping or selling stuff on there.

Still beats fb marketplace which is a cesspool, and craigslist which can also be full of sketchy flakes.

I’ve had good experiences on pinkbike, but I’ve also had stuff listed for reasonable prices and it just sits there for months and months because I don’t think the site gets that much traffic.

Ebay takes around 13%. I think this is often counter-balanced by getting a higher price in a world wide market.

It kind of depends on where you live. I used to live in the SF Bay Area and with 8M people there, it was easy to sell a high end bike or a set of wheels locally. Now I live in a town of a 100k people and finding the right buyer for anything is difficult.

People make money flipping ebay because 13% is still way cheaper than paying rent, utilities, and insurance on a tradition storefront business. Clearly though, one needs to buy goods at wholesale and be able to sell them at a decent markup. Flipping to make 20% on one item isn’t worth it.

This is very true.
SF Craigslist was popular.
Austin no one uses it.

I’ve bought wheels and a bike off of Pink Bike. It’s very much your target audience.

Do you get any buyer protections on PinkBike?

Use PayPal Goods and Services and you do.

MTB Stuff - PinkBike. Road has been tougher.

Generally FB MarketPlace, FB Buy/Sell Groups are my next choice.

Ebay for Smaller stuff that’s easier to ship, oftentimes you can get enough to make the Ebay charge worth it.
