Gauging Running RPE

I could do with some with figuring out my running RPE, I’m. Usually a 5-10k runner and I’m comfortable gauging my RPE over those distances. However I ran a half marathon, it was my first half marathon and ran it at a very easy pace (average heart rate 118) so from that point of view it was very easy but my legs were VERY VERY fatigued. So was it a 9 out of 10 or a 5?

Hey David!

There may be some experienced runners who can help you narrow down your zones a bit further, but have you seen this resource that we have in our Help Center?

Also, this existing thread may be useful for you

Thanks @bryce I’ll take a look at those.

To me its a 5, but the distance is farther than your body can handle. When you go outside your norm, the RPE index should be tossed aside and get yourself some earned rest and donuts. Lots of donuts.

Thanks a @drkpolo throwing RPE out the window When’s it a distance out of the norm definitely makes sense. I definitely enjoyed a few donuts and a pint or two :beers:
