I believe you need a dual-sided power meter for any Garmin headunit to record and display pedaling metrics.

You might need to configure Assioma? The screenshot was using 520 and dual-sided Stages gen3 crank based power meter.
There is a setting on Assioma App to change it from single to dual. Single is great for apps and dual is for use with headunits like the garmin. You have to be connected to the pedals to see the option. Single sends all data through one pedal, dual sends individual data if I am not mistaken.
This post is useful and explains it better than I did.

damn Do we even want to know how that happened?
I think it’s fair to say that is probably not going to be a warranty replacement
Might be time for a new head unit when outdoors unless you want to throw it in your pocket. I imagine indoors on the trainer, it’s probably not going to jump off the bike.
I don’t know if this will work but it might be worth a try.
I replaced the rear housing on my old edge 1000 with one from eBay and that was pretty simple and cheap…
Looks like the 530 part incorporates more electronics so is more expensive…
EDIT: here’s one from the USA without the electronics…
I 3d printed a new rear disk for a buddy in my club. They are available of yeggi.com
So… I’m still on my Edge 500 but thinking about upgrading to an Edge 530… does it make sense or will there be a 530+ or 540 available soonish?
Buying it in November doesn’t make sense usage wise, but I guess prices are good now - but I don’t wan’t spend money just to see a new unit within the next few months - and everybody knew but I missed the news somehow
Does anyone stumbled upon some news about potential upgrades to the Edge series?
if Garmin sticks with 3 year cycle then 540 in Spring 2022. But with semiconductor supply issues, the next update is anyones guess.
$249 for a 530 right now, Even if 2022 sees a 540(or 530 plus) What will it gain that the current model doesn’t have? Possibly a longer battery life, but it’s already great in that regard, maybe a faster processor, but once again, it’s not lacking in that department.
I’d double down on a 530 for today’s price. I just can’t see much meaningful changes for a new model.
I would grab the 530 now. $250 is a great price, plus you get a bigger better unit. Try to sell the old one for $100 to offset the cost.
Woah… 100$ for my old Edge 500?
Thanks everyone for the input - I guess I#ll go for it
Got myself one today for 159€ from Amazon.
RIP my old 820: Your touchscreen will be missed on rainy days and your battery life will be forever in my thoughts.
Great! Thanks for the tip - I just pulled the trigger on amazon as well
Got a 530 under the tree at Christmas. Quite happy with it, bar incident detection… Just a question about all the additional metrics in connect - now I have a 530, if I record (for instance my commute, tomorrow morning) on my 245, does it do the full training status/ load now or is it device specific? No power meter on my commuter, so watch is handier!
I’m not 100% sure but I think once the ride recorded on the watch is synced onto the 530 then it will do the calculation on device and load to Garmin connect.
I may just try tomorrow. It’s a bit like sleep tracking, it’s just kinda confirming what you already know, but…
Turn on Physio True Up (on both devices), and a workout done on one device will turn up on the other. Although it does take a few syncs with your phone (3 actually) to get everything lined up on both devices.
