Froome out of TdF

If I can pull any good news out of this
it’s that I haven’t heard anything regarding head injury treatment. So hopefully the worst he got there was a concussion.

“Eyewitnesses said Froome did not move for some time as he was treated by ambulance crew”. Sounds like at least a concussion, in addition to the other injuries he has.

I think until/if there is a statement about the true extend of his injuries all we can do is speculate.

It’s hard to read that article and not think of his wife and family. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery.

One thing we can all learn from this
keep both hands on the bars and no snot rockets at 35 mph.

Respectfully disagree. We all know and accept the risks we take when heading out on a bike. This reminds me to always reflect on the words “I love you” before saying them to my wife and kids before heading off on a ride. And because I’m not getting paid to ride, to truly accept the responsibility of their standard “be safe” reply. Peace out :v: :biking_man:

Well, I’m pulling my post from above considering the severity of the crash. Not a “he fell down on his side” type crash; this is brutal. Hope for a full recovery, whether that means a return to cycling or not
that’s probably the least of his concerns at this point.

Froome might get credited with 2011 Vuelta win now:

Nothing is going to make the horror of this crash and the pre-Tour timing of it go away but it would be something I’m sure he’d appreciate being added to his palmarùs.

Things are looking better

And it seems like above, he has just won a tour from his hospital bed

One word: Beloki.

Just thinking. If Cobo had been caught at the time and Froome had won. Would Wiggins have been No1 at the 2012 Tour? Would Froome have won it? And would he already have the 5 Tour victories. These cheats have a lot to answer for.

Froome out at Ineos. Over to ISN. Will he finish his career there?

Froome said Thursday. “I look forward to exciting new challenges as I move into the next phase of my career, but in the meantime, my focus is on winning a fifth Tour de France with Team Ineos.”

Surprised they picked him or am I? mmm, not sure. Not surprised he is going, rumours for weeks.

Cycling News wrote “a multi-year agreement – understood to be for five years - has now been reached” so perhaps he’ll end there. Think it would be hard for anyone to know since he hasn’t raced in over a year although Valverde seems to be doing alright at 40.

Chris Horner was 41 when he won vuelta

@Trippy it seems like his training has been going ok but I guess this announcement is prima facia evidence that it hasn’t been good enough to convince Ineos Froome should be the soul leader at TdF.

So Froome is an Ineos lame duck that’s going to be starting on their TdF team.

Look out, Moviestar, Ineos are moving into your turf.

I’d like to think the two Chris’ are riding in totally different environments

I’d bet £20 that Froome doesn’t start the tour. Tactically, it would be a disaster.

I’m still hopeful that the £5 I put on Thomas at 9/1 is a bargain.
