From 4iii Precision 3 to dual-sided PM

Hello all,

I asked this on another forum (Reddit ), but I wanted to have your point because one of my reasons to possibly move to a dual-sided PM is consistency between indoors and outdoors watts/effort/etc.

Long story short, I’ve had mixed experience with the 4iii PM from my 2024 Aeroad. Lately, it has been extremely unreliable, with low to high readings, sometimes failing to connect, battery draining after a couple of rides, etc.

At this point, I’m honestly done with 4iii, and I don’t want to deal with such errors anymore.

It’s under warranty, but I have to send the crank back, and I’d like to have a dual-sided PM anyway, so the idea of getting a new one instead seems appealing.

The Favero Assioma PRO RS-2 is the one I have in mind.

My question is, has anyone made the switch to a dual-sided power because of malfunctions of their 4iii PM? How has your experience been? Is it worth it, or should I send it back for warranty?

Thanks!

Just a point of clarification, you say dual sided. Do you mean independent L/R power like pedals give, or total L/R power like a spider gives? Spider PMs give accurate total but estimate individual L/R power. I have Assioma pedals but also a spider PM. The pedal PMs give me more information, but I don’t find it actionable. Of course you can move pedals between bikes but spider PMs not so much. That said, I actually prefer the relative simplicity of a spider PM.

I don’t understand why this is an either or question..

can’t you send back your 4iiii and then buy the Faveros?

I have both Favero Mx and 4iiii single sided and both have been problem free. I’d say they’re both known for their reliability.

if you have issues, you should get it replaced/returned.
