Flight Attendant Issue

Curious is anyone else has had a batter issue with Flight Attendant:

  • When I transport the bike, I typically remove the AXS batteries for all components: FA Fork, FA shock, derailleur, Reverb)
  • Got to the trailhead yesterday, installed batteries (which had 4.5 hours of ride time on them), and the FA fork would not activate: no light, completely dead).
  • Swapped out to batteries from other components (which showed “green” via the component’s light and full charged via the AXS app), but sill no life.
  • Then swapped to a fully charged spare battery, but still no life. (Note: this battery was charged over a month ago, but had no use; only carried as a spare)
  • Did my ride with fork “dead” (note; seems to default int he “peddle” mode as I had ~ 50mm of travel)
  • Got home, charged a battery to full / green, installed and the FA fork back to life it came.
  • Then installed used derailleur, seat post, etc. batteries (which now had ~9hours on them) and the FA fork still worked (note: the were the same batteries I tried trailside, with more use now).

Curious to know if anyone else has had a quirky behavior with their Flight Attendant.

I’m having the same issue with my FA fork. It just goes dead from time to time. Was able to update to the latest firmware 2.53.9 the last time the fork was functioning. Next time I went to ride it the fork was not functioning again, no lights etc. Did you come up with a solution?

Check to make sure none of the pins where the battery connect to have lost their ability to “spring” back. It’s common that one of the pins doesn’t pop all the way back out, thus not providing a good connection with the battery. The new transmission GX derailleurs have a known issue, but many other axs components can have it happen too (just warrantied an older GX derailleur about a week ago).

I just had an issue this weekend before and during a race. Two blue lights were flashing the entire time. Antoine know why or what that means? I don’t notice anything odd with it not functioning.

For me, I tried the pins and there were not depressed, so no luck there.

The 2 blue flashing means it’s gone into error mode. Pull the batter out, wait 10 seconds and reinstall and it should reset.

I started keeping a battery in the FA fork at all times, including transport (i.e.: I am using the blocking plate for air travel transport). It appears IF I let the bike sit still for a bit (a few minutes), the put the battery in, I have no problem. The engineer in me assumes there is some mechanical tiny mercury switch in the unit which is “sticking” when not energized, but I don’t know that, it’s just a guess.

Bottom line, since I stated leaving a battery in all the time, I’ve had no issues. RockShox was super helpful and asked me to sent it in, but since the problem has self corrected, I’ve not done that. Also, no issues insert he new firmware upgrade. I may sent it in during the off-season to be safe.

Interesting my experience with Rockshocks was the worst ever. I have a similar issue with the flight attendant, and they require me to go to a shop and pay them to have it evaluated, the shop has to initiate the return, I was told they dont allow customers to send in directly. Its has been quite frustrating.

Im surprised they let you send it in directly.
