Feature Request (or advice): Adjust Power Scale Factor Between Bikes

Hi,

I think this should be a feature request, but perhaps I’m over obsessing and should not sweat it.

Scenario: I train at home on the trainer or road with Favero Assioma PM with power match (or another bike with a PM that aligns closely in power measurement profile. I train when away each week at work on a Concept2 Bike Erg. The Concept2 is at a work gym and I don’t have the ability to add my own PM. For arguments sake, I know the Concept2 is reading 10-15% low on power, I can tell this by feel and also it is well documented online.

Intervals.icu has the ability to retrospectively “fix” power data with scaling, so I could apply a 1.1-1.15 scale factor on these activities to “align” them to the majority of my at home training. Normally I would just take the discrepancy, but I think it “could” knock off AI FTP detection if a good portion of rides are artificially low on power readings. Is this something that could be added to TR, is it worth it? Any other ideas? For now, I haven’t brought these rides into TR, but I’m stepping up my training after a long term recovery from injuries and would like to have the best approach to tracking them.

Thoughts?

Approximately how many hours out of a month are you on the Concept2 and how many hours a month in your training plan?

If a smaller percentage I might be inclined to just do z2 at work and, as the Beatles used to sing, …let it be.

If you would be missing key workouts the options are fewer for sure and I don’t have a good answer; sorry.

For the time being, you could adjust your FTP manually by a factor of 0.88 or so, & adjust the power scale factor in the Assioma app by the appropriate amount. (Favero staff should be able to guide you on that.) Your power numbers won’t be right, but they’ll at least be consistently out.
