For those who love / hate Strava: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/29/style/fake-my-run-strava.html?unlocked_article_code=1.K08.p6iF.OcSGnYh4XOFr&smid=url-share
It’s not new. Kind of the double edge sword of Strava wanting to be social media. If Strava is social media, expect people to fake things. Just like half of the stuff on Instagram being either fake or staged or only showing the high points, it was only a matter of time that Strava became that.
So that’s how those people get those fancy bikes on Zwift.
I always found it funny when people were surprised about this happening. That’s a pretty common thing in video games to buy a leveled up character or account. Especially when the bikes are giving advantages in speed, it shouldn’t shock people that those items are for sale.
Almost like…Strava isn’t real life.
Such a perfect parody for the Strava culture… why I deleted it in the first place.
It’s why I only use it with the small group of people I ride with week in and week out
