I get the logic here and felt the same way at first until a LBS owner friend pointed out that unless you’re buying an endurance geometry, wider tire gravel/CX rig with mid-level components then don’t bother shopping at your LBS. They often end up having to special order which carries it’s own risks/headaches for both parties. The margins on the bike itself is so minimal that it’s not worth dealing with. Buy your cages, tape, maintenance stuff, etc. from your LBS. get your Canyon a 500 mile tune-up, maybe do a fit session, etc. with your local LBS. Buy a helmet, water bottles and whatnot. All of these things are high-margin, high-profit items for them as opposed to facilitating the transaction on your actual bike, which usually ends up taking a fair amount of their staff time to pick out, especially when you consider how many people come in to “kick tires”, dream and BS without actually buying anything.
