Canyon AeroRoad Tri-extensions

Do you still have the tri bars? If you do, please email me j4cka@hotmail.com as I’m interested. Thanks

Does anyone have a solution to canyon discontinuing the specific tri bars? third party bike makes etc

Did anyone ever find a solution to this? I’m keen to get some tri-bars for my Aeroad in time for some up and coming local TT’s. Due to Canyon making the integrated cockpit , which is great, however makes shopping for anything non Canyon a pain. Would be interested to hear others suggestions.

Nope.

In my case, I decided that if I ever see the tri-extensions on sale, I’m gonna buy them even if my cockpit is the H11, which is not supposed to use them. I just thought that I would only use them occasionally, and being a ‘light’ rider would mean that there isn’t a high risk of anything going wrong.

I’ve checked Canyon’s store every now and then though, and I’ve never been able to find them on sale again. At this point I’ve just made up my mind that I’ll have to buy a dedicated TT bike if I ever want to go beyond the Aeroad capabilities.

that sucks really, you’d have thought someone somewhere would have solved this or found another brand that might work

Yeah, I’ve used google many times to search for solutions but never found anything convincing.

In some ocasions, I have regretted buying a bike with a proprietary handlebar. But then I look at the current bike prices, and think that for what I paid for my bike (Canyon’s end of season sale 2018), there’s nothing even remotely close to what I got. Even pre-covid, it was an insane deal. That gives me some peace of mind.

That sounds dangerous given the h11 doesn’t have the reinforced section the h36 cockpit does. Not sure how much your weight impacts this, it’s more the clamping force on the bar where it isn’t designed for it that would bother me.

You may be right.

I always thought that while they may have a point and the H11 may be weaker (I don’t recall them detailing the frecuency or amount of problems that they had with that when fitted with Aerobars), it was also a marketing move to encourage you to upgrade to a better (and expensive) cockpit.

I also don’t know if the H36 was specifically reinforced due to that, or if it was just launched as an upgraded, better quality product. If it’s the first case, then it may definitively not be wise to use the aerobars.

My Ultimate came with a H36 cockpit that had a warranty issue. They gave me a H11 cockpit whilst awaiting stock and I asked what the difference was as there was a weight difference. I ended up keeping the H11 as I never planned to install aero bars and they were lighter.

So, I’ve been hunting for a soultion to this H36 TT extension issue. I’ve found a guy in Germany who is selling the 3D printed Tri / TT bar extension for the H36. I’m very tempted as I was almost ready to buy a dedicated TT bike.

Anyone got any thoughts on the below?
