Sorry stupid question. My MTB has an 11 speed Shimano XT drivetrain. I’ve misplaced the cassette lockring on a near new XT cassette. I have an 11 speed SLX lockring laying around in good shape. Any reason I can’t use it with the XT cassette? Can’t see why not…

No problem
I have had issues with mixing SRAM/Shimano MTB/road lock rings because of the depth of the lock ring. Some lock rings are for 10t/11t/12t little cogs. Otherwise, they’re all the same. If it engages the free body easily and tightens the cassette all the way, you’re good to go.
