Yes occasionally. It’s nice to do rides purely on feel sometimes if training or just enjoy the scenery you are passing through if not. Far too many sadly don’t enjoy their rides unless they have some data to compare with others.
Yup, maybe one a month, usually during a recovery week, I take my MTB with no watch, phone, computer and just have fun in the local woods on the trails.
I don’t have any electronics on my fixie. I may record rides on my Garmin watch, but that’s just after-the-fact data. I use it in the spring and for just-going-somewhere riding.
I love maps and will record with an Apple Watch when renting a bike just to get a map!
That’s what I do.
Imo that’s a tech free ride, but it still flows data into your weekly/monthly/annual stats.
Plus I ride for utility, to the shops, to the pool.
I almost always ride with my garmin on the bars but if I feel I don’t need/want the data at hand then I’ll ride with my Garmin watch on. So it’s still collecting the data but I keep it on the time screen so I can’t see the data. I like having the tracking and historical data. And if I decide to sprint for something it’s always fun to go back and see what power I hit.
I’ve my Garmin on my bars but just leave it on the HR screen (I don’t have power on my road bike). I flick over occasionally to see how far in I am timewise, every half hour or so. I find if I can see what speed I’m doing I tend to push too hard.
