The bike shops were one of the good things when I lived in Edinburgh (15 years back), particulary the number within a cycleable distance of each other). Just a couple of days before a big Sportive I snapped my seat clamp (it was probably designed to fail rather than crushing the frame terminally). I spent the next night sprinting around bikes shops, including the shop I bought the bike from. But no one had one. Lol, the young lads in the shop I bought the bike from tried to sell me one which obviously wouldn’t fit. There was one more to sprint too but there was nothing any good there either. It meant coming back near the bike shop where I bought the bike again. So I thought I’d give it one more try, on the off chance someone senior was in. The manager was in, and straight away he clocked, you’re the guy who bought the 928 Bianchi. He knew what he was looking for, but the rummaging in drawers came up negative. Then he had a light bulb moment. He took one off a display bike. I offered to pay for that but he was having none of that, gratis
