Pbase, this is so awesome to hear. My wife grew up in here in Saudi and her dad was one of those guys. Do you remember if you went to a home in Ras Tanura or Dhahran? You mention the refinery which is close to Ras Tanura which is where my father-in-law was located. Ras Tanura is on a nice beach; spark a memory? Also, do you remember the families name? We still keep up with a lot of the families that were here during that time. I was trying to find a way to DM you; if you have any details I bet I could get you in touch with them. BTW, the ACs are still just as good which leads me back to my original comment…I keep the temperature in the house VERY cold to accommodate the inside trainer rides.

Im in Tennessee with my trainer in the garage. My plan currently is to ride at 6am when the temps are low 70s…but unfortunately that means 95% humidity. Im up to 5 fans now. Its manageable, not great.

I spent 3 weeks living in Ras Tanura (with weekends in Dammam because Saudi Aramco wouldn’t give us internet access and we still needed to get other work done). That place was a head trip, literally crossing a gate and entering an alternate world.

And for longer rides, i do go outside. I either go at dawn and finish before the sun get to far overhead (as the sun is what really makes it horrible) or go way late in the day when the trees shade better and the humidity is a bit lower (although air temp is high). Shady gravel rides are good too.

LOL…it is a small world!!!

Ras Tanura for me too! I don’t have any names or pics any more though. Indeed, it was an unexpected paradise.
