Gut punch for Laidlow…so damn close. What a performance.

The hat remains undefeated.

Destroys both the course record and the run course record.

Damn. What a day for Iden.

Great race, nearly fell asleep in the final Kim’s but like Iden powered through.

Skipper made it to 5th, and Laidlow is almost English, so we did well I think :slightly_smiling_face: :uk:

What was Laidlow’s training protocol between Collins Cup and Kona?

Looks like Lionel is fading…

Thanks @JoeX. Race report will be coming once I can move again. It was an incredible experience, but damn that was one hard run.

Yep. Im so bummed. Waiting for the inevitable “thoughts” vid where he tells us hes retiring because hes done. Odd thing was Collin just won the PTO event and came in a few minutes after Lionel. Im thinking Mikal will be quite embarrassed by this result. Clearly something in their prep was off

I’m in the LS camp, too. Feel really sorry for him. However, what does this tell us about the Norwegian training approach? For real or hype? Do we really all need lactate monitors?

I think it tells me it takes time to adapt. But i also wonder if he has the talent or the mental to be competitive.

But when is the viking magic supposed to happen? He’s been coached by Mikal for over a year now. LS is already 34.

Sure, but I wouldn’t jump to conclusions. One race does not an athlete make. 2nd at St George IMWC he beat most of the field in yesterdays top fifteen.

Let’s see what he says.

Looked like he wasn’t happy with something early on in the bike.

Why we like 5th placed Joe:

And beat Ditlev in that race.

He’s already plotting a beer mile on Instagram…

Rudy also didn’t do well, although a notch above Lionel and Collin. I believe Collin had a flat early on in the bike, but says he felt like :poop: all day (looks like he was still having fun though). On Lionel’s discord some were saying he lost a nutrition bottle on the bike, which we knew would happen when he jinxed himself as usual during his last vlog. :man_facepalming::joy: Not a good showing for Mikal’s Angel’s–had Collin not won Dallas, we’d have 2 races where all 3 did poorly, instead of 1 in 6 performances being good (I think his other ITU wild cards also heavily shit the bed in Dallas). Hopefully Mikal can be a little more humble and use this as a learning experience that not everyone is Gustav or Kristian.

Hope LS was not a beta tester for this

The silence from LS is deafening.

I was hoping Sebi would get top 5 for his final Kona but Joe Skipper is a very worthy replacement

Talbot was shooting a video yesterday. Probably best for Lionel to give it some time before he comes to all of his usual grand revelations though. :joy: Will be interesting to hear his thoughts on what happened and what’s next (besides becoming a Dad very soon! :+1:).
