Not 100% sure but I think I read something that they are not continuing the MTB line.
That’s a shame, seeing as the first one got great reviews
Yeah…. it was basically a cheaper, lighter Blur. Hopefully that will trickle down to the next gen Blur that comes out!
Curious if anyone has heard rumors about an updated Blur? I’d like to swap my Mach 4 frame for something a bit more stable this year, Epic 8 frame is high currently the prime candidate, but would really like to support my local shop who only does Trek and SC. Trek doesn’t really have a viable 120 option IMO so thinking an updated Blur might fit the bill but they weren’t sure of anything coming down the pipeline, but it’s definitely due.
Curious what you would you like to see updated?
Personally I’d like to see it shed some weight (it’s about 1 Kg heavier then the same spec Epic 8). Regarding other stuff I think most XC bikes are dialed in. Maybe a few tweaks but here and there but probably nothing game changing.
Geo is the big thing, I’m fully onboard with the longer slacker trend that the Epic and most bikes have taken. The Blur, along with a lot of other bikes were sort of optimized around 100 mm forks with the ability to run 120s when everyone is running 120 up front these days, at least that I ride/race with.
Blockquote Buy a zfs?
I’d like to support my local shop, which is a SC dealer, not a Cervelo. The ZFS looks rad but I’m sort of on the far end of a size large and the XL is definitely too big, similar problem with previous Blurs but in general seems like SC is moving more towards a bit longer/bigger in size L. And yes I’m very picky about geo haha.
I went from an XL Hightower (v1 I guess, 2017) to an Epic 8 L. The Epic fits much better, the SC always felt a bit too big and heavy. I’m also almost always between L and XL and glad I didn’t listen to my Spesh dealer and went with the L because of that experience with the SC. Take that for what it’s worth… everyone is shaped differently.
I had been seeing you continuing to mention them but there are none available in the US so I thought maybe you guys were lucky with inventory over there…
Just switched over to Flight Attendant on my S-Works Epic 8 XL with Purgatory GRID T9 and GC GRID T7, 180/180 HS2 rotors
Before:
11.57 kg
25.52 lbs
After:
11.86 kg
26.15 lbs
Not bad for an XL with big heavy tires!
Don’t know of any firm rumors but Alan Hatherly just signed to Jayco which rides Giant. He’ll be on the worldtour road squad but will still ride some XC. The reigning world champ probably wouldn’t have signed without seeing the new Anthem so I’d expect him to be on it next year.
He’s going for the roadie $$'s and glory. I don’t think the Anthem had anything to do with his decision.
You’re right that it’s probably not the reason he signed, he’s on the Scalpel now which seems to be well liked. But I doubt he would have made jump if they told him he’d have to ride the current Anthem in 2025 which would be a step backward for him.
Have about 50 miles on these so far, they’re absolutely awesome. Haven’t been babying them whatsoever. Don’t have much to say about the rims per se, they seem nice and strong. I think I hit rim once or twice on drops to flat and no issues at all.
Going to put them away for winter and go to a more trail set of wheels/tires since the hidden rocks under leaves are terrifying on Ray/Ralph right now but that’s no fault of the wheels.
What are absolutely awesome?

I replied to myself, the Nextie custom wheels I built up a month ago with I9 1/1 hubs.
My SRAM level brakes need bleeding far too often - are shimano the way to go? Nothing to expensive but an upgrade to 4 pistons would be nice. Note; i have small hands so like the levers to be close-ish to the bars with an easy bit of reach adjust.
Also, the bar roll/rotation feels off on my shallow rise XC bars - like my wrists/hands are going to roll forwards off the grips when it gets bumpy.
I know its personal but after messing around a bit i still cant find a good position and dont want to end up always going back and forth. Anyone suggest a good starting point or tips to set bar rotation/rise/backsweep please?
Just a thought, but maybe also look into your brake lever position? If they’re angled too far down, that might put your hands in a compromised position.
Yeah you might have a point, i took my levers off to adjust the reach and swap the format around so maybe i’ve put them back differently. Ill have a look again
