Iām confused, you said XC9ās before which are Shimano shoes.
They tested 35 seconds faster than the S Works Road shoes of the same generation.
Mtn shoes test slower than road shoes because of the tread on the bottom which a) increases frontal cross section and b) drag. Boa shoes test slower than laced shoes because of the boundary / flow separation.
Anyway, I am starting to get the feeling that youāre trolling so Iām gonna peace out.
Just trying to get all the info. You didnāt specify which shoe that savings was against, and I figured since it was a specialized wind tunnel they would only test specialized products.
Either way, Iām surprised it was that big of an aero difference. I figured itād be mainly weight.
watched this gain, they have Enve hubs so Iām pretty sure this will use the new innerdrive hubs they released recently on their SES road wheels. Wondering where they are gonna be regarding to weight, I have been using trail M630 for a few years now and really like that wheelset, their SES had some weight reduction due to the new hubs but enve mountain wheels had always been a bit on the heavy side.
Beautiful. Subject to whether I got to it fast enough Iāve had an order accepted on an '23 Epic Evo Pro.
Over the weekend in the UK a bike shop had the on sale for Ā£3750 - half price. I was going to wait until September but with AXS, carbon all over, Rovalās and Factory suspension I couldnāt resist a far greater level of build than I could afford at RRP on an Epic 8 or Oiz.
Yup I did the same. No luck on the s-works I was looking for. There are some places in Florida that have them still, but not for the sale price. Iām sure theyāll sell them any day now.
The comparison I did showed that thereās only few MM in reach and seat angle, other than that the '23 Epic Evo and the '24 Epic are essentially the same. In my case I could afford an MSRP Epic 8 Comp with alloy wheels, alloy stem & bar, GX and lower grade suspension or the discounted '23 Evo Pro with Fox Factory with compression adjust, Roval Carbon throughout and AXS, oh and 300g lighter. It was a no brainer for me.
The website stock numbers havenāt updated so Iām hoping when business opens on Monday Iām at the front end of the queue for a stock bike and donāt miss out.
It depends. Alex Dowsett just did some wind tunnel testing road vs mtb shoes. MTB shoes were faster at different yaw angles for him. why? No clue but thatās what the wind tunnel is saying.
Whatās bad about it? Is it the looks? I wish my bike had a knock block, have to keep the spacers in or else Iām at risk of wrecking my top tube in a crash.
