The Eagle GX rear derailleur is made for the Eagle cassettes, and use an Eagle non-flattop chain. Whereas the Rival cassette is intended for a Flattop chain… Countless people mixing and matching, but obviously its not intended, nor recommended by Sram themselves. Take it as you’d like, but in my opinion, matching the chain to the cassette is probably the most important pairing in a drivetrain… 1x chainrings and jockey wheels are a bit more forgiving…
Thanks - so by that logic flat top chain with Eagle jockey wheels is the main consideration (SRAM already sell the Eagle chain with Rival chainset so admitting some cross compatibility I guess) and keep Eagle chain for the Eagle cassette.

That would seem to imply that SRAM say that the Eagle casette and derailler is compatible with the Rival Wide (not sure why that would be) but that’s what the chart says (sorry if it’s already been shared
It’s compatible. Road cranks can be run with Eagle chains.
