66.6* HTA (their not so hidden ‘Evil’ joke) on the CH, but the point is still correct.
I think the bike is leaning and the photo taken at a slight angle in that cycling tips article. Cause it definitely looks lower and slacker than the numbers suggest.
Being an Iron Maiden fan when I was a kid, I should have remembered that number.
Incoming New Bike Day!. The red Pro Carbon is in route. Should be able to ride it this weekend!
That’s the color I wanted but they didn’t have it in the comp carbon. All my bikes are black which doesn’t show up well in pictures
I’m actually shocked it’s on the way. I gave them downpayment last week and the shop said it could be a month or two before inventory came in.
Here she is! Not a fan of the stock tires for the kinda riding I do so replacements on order already. Not sure what I think about the flared handlebar, but I’ll at least give it a try.
And of course the power meter is also on order because without data the rides don’t even count right?!
That is lovely. What power meter are you putting on?
Anybody have any idea how this would ride compared to a 2016 Warbird? My roadie is a tarmac and when I get on the warbird it always seems so “tame” but I think that might be a product of the different style bike.
Straight fire bike pjorn.
I’ve got the SRAM AXS power meter on order. I’ve got one on my other AXS bike and have been happy with it.
Disclaimer: I’ve only “ridden” it around my neighborhood so far.
My previous “gravel” bike was a Santa Cruz Stigmata and so far the geometry difference is noticeable. I played with it a lot today and have got it pretty close to my road bike fit. The bars are very different and that’s what is bugging me right now. I’ll give it a go this weekend on a route that has road, gravel, and single track and we’ll see how it feels after that.
My hunch is I’ll end up getting some traditional non flared bars.
How does it feel compared to the stigmata?
You’re all making me jealous. I’ve only just bought my Tarmac so there is no way I’ll be allowed a Diverge this year. Am going to be out of the country with work for most of 2021 though so maybe I’ll pick up a 2022/23 model when I get back
Love the color
The flared bars are great for fast sketchy descents. If you won’t be riding a lot of them, then not really necessary.
I plan on getting a set of big tires for long rides. Will see if I can fit 50s on there. For now, I’m giving the stock tires a shot to see how they perform.
After some tweaking the fit is pretty similar to the Stigmata. My goal is to have my roadie (BMC Road Machine) and gravel bike have pretty identical fits.
The big difference so far is the handlebars. I think I’d prefer bars similar to my road bike over the flared version that comes stock on the bike. I’ll give it a couple weeks, but guessing I’ll end up replacing them.
I always felt like the Stigmata was a bit of a blend of a gravel bike and a cross bike while the new Diverge is definitely a “gravel” bike.
You might be pleasantly surprised. It’s really nice descending with flared bars.
Some what if a bike fit question, but relating to the Diverge.
Seat tube angle on the Sworks is 73.5 with a dropper post
Seat tube angle on carbon models with the 20mm offset is still 73.5.
Doesn’t this 20mm offset effectively change the angle?
Yes. It does. I’ve moved the saddle further forward to compensate.
The 20mm offset I think is a design feature of the seatpost to allow it to flex under load/impacts.
The dropper post does not have any flex built in, so no need for the offset.
Only if you keep your saddle in the same position in the seat clamp. If you keep your saddle in the same position relative to the bottom bracket, then it has no effect on the seat tube angle.
(If your current bike fit is good, then you should keep your saddle in the same position relative to the BB)
I rode an 85 miler yesterday that included some pretty coarse and bumpy gravel. My first long ride on the Diverge.
The future shock really works well. I’m very impressed.
