no, i’ve binned them already this this last one was a pinch that also damaged at the bead. My punctures are always in the blank area between lugs - where there’s no lug to protect casing
Maybe you could be as fast as Nino if you could get the “pro only” 170 TPI version. The rest of us lowly mortals have to settle for the 120 TPI version.
Here’s a 180 TPI tire, that rolls faster than the Aspen. Continental Cross Kings.
FWIW, I recall the TR guys saying they asked the guy who runs bicyclerollingresistance.com to test the new Aspen. And the result now included in the site I linked to.
Finally received them 1309g with Carbon-Ti Hubs 28/32 spokes and 28mm id, Ashima Rotors but no Casette mounted yet. So final weight is yet to be determined. They are looking slick though
Scott is back on my radar. My biggest quip is the stupid remotes they use. I’m not against remotes but must have an under the bar lever for dropper. I’m sure there’s a way around that. I’m looking at a 120 mm Spark, it looks really dialed.
I’ve been really surprised by running Ikons 2.35 front and rear, I prefer it over the Ardent Race up front. On really long endurance back country events with a lot of tech descending I have taken the weight penalty of an Aggressor up front. At my level, it doesn’t matter.
@Jonathan mentioned it on the pod (loving the Cape Epic chat btw) and so I’ve been looking it up. Seems those that have used them really rate them for trail use, but I can’t find much discussion from racers.
I’ve run XR2 F/R this year and I’m really impressed by the tires. Second place goes to the Vittoria Mezcals…I live in Bentonville and both seem to have adequate sidewall protection against the sharp rocks.
FWIW: I ran an XR1 in the rear for a dry race and it was legit.
I should also add I guess to stay closer to the topic. I’ve got the new Schwalbe Racing Ray and Racing Ralph combo in 29x2.35 Snakeskin protection. I also have a Nobby Nic as a wet track alternative.
