I hope so and Wahoo doesnât; Zwift copying or providing the same feature as magic roads will be the nail in the coffin for RGT. It doesnât help the fact the entire world/game is empty, but magic roads is pretty bloody neat.
Some interesting changes to power ups that make a ton of sense to me.
Steering seems to be headed for a restart as well.
And the Coffee Stop option is just a week away.
Would be nice if they added a ANT+ connection for it instead of just BT.
Wish they would drop the burritoâŚI guess Iâm a friendly cyclist. I hate using that as a tactic and feeling the hate. But, I do say to myselfâŚitâs just a game.
Some more details on the PU changesâŚ.
Oh Climb Portal is trippy:
Willing to try it but this gamey view is a turn off. I understand they are trying to bulk import famous climbs without the cost of detailed graphics but I was hoping for at least generic graphics without all the bells and whistles we see in a typical Zwift map.
Wow! That looks super interesting. Iâm excited that Zwift is so heavily engaged in development recently. Iâm personally really hoping for a graphics engine rebuild onto something like Unreal Engine.
That looks⌠really boring to spend any time in
Haptic feedback for the play controllers as well ⌠nice
Yeah, that is a nice adder that they mentioned was coming.
Anyone know if the climbs are simply solo adventures or can you ride with other people who have entered the portal around the same time as you?
The video only show Tariq riding by himselfâŚbut he may have had early access to the feature.
Sounds like July is going to be a fun time for my indoor rides. A bit of freedom from the monotony of AdZ and Ventoux!
I gotta think this will be open for free ride and groups, but have not confirmed yet.
I know we donât get it until Friday, so that may explain why Tariq was alone.
ETA, he seems to think groups are coming:
I had early access and thatâs why I was all alone on this adventure. But yes, you will be riding with others as well just like any other route.
GreatâŚthanks for the clarification!!
I did the Col du Tourmalet just now and dunno, man, I donât think itâs much more engaging than looking at blue bars on TrainerRoad. Iâd prefer more realistic graphics (even if itâs Zwiftâs definition of realism.)
A few impressions:
- There were 9 other people on it. Never saw a single one of them, but at least I got to wear the polka dot jersey for a bit.
- I like that the road is color-coded to the gradient.
- The portals in each section give one of three powerups: feather, 10 XP, and 250 XP. Got pretty lucky and caught a few 250 XP bonuses in a row, so I managed to level up.
- I wish there was a prize wheel at the top, like in the Alpe.
- Your time, ETA, remaining distance and elevation are shown right from the start, which is nice.
- In case youâre wondering how the portal shows up on the map in Strava, itâs just connected to whichever map you start from (in my case, France.)
The color coding of the gradient makes me think of climb pro on my garmin when Iâm doing long climbs. I like glancing at it to see whatâs coming.
I havenât used Zwift in awhile but when I did I enjoyed just doing climbs
