Rooted Vermont!
I’ve been eyeing the stuff in Vermont sense I follow Ted King, and it looks like a lot of fun. I am looking at planning a couple trips out there next year, possibly.
MidSouth - OK
Dirty Turtle - ND
Badlands Gravel Battle - ND
Dirty Kanza - KS
Just started training yesterday after barely riding since DK last year. Yikes. Lots of work to do.
So far,
Mid-South 100 and G3 Gravel Series
RPI if I don’t go to Leadville.
I personally have run 38-40 mm tires (specialized trigger pro and kenda flint ridge) and found them good. Victory Velo just announced that people may not hate bringing their Mtb for this years route. I’m still trying to decide
what to do???
Holy crap - $1800! I’ll bring you on a tour of the course and also throw in some MTB rides for a beer afterwards!
I think this is the direction all of these destination events are going. For comparison, Leadville is $500.
Too many middle aged men and women with disposable income interested in doing these rides
For the Dutchies. I’m riding LTD gravelfest. So if anyone wants to grab a beer.
Ghost of the Gravel in June
The Range in July
Bikepacking on the Divide trail for a couple of weeks in August.
Killer!
Nice to see rough road on someones list. I’ll see ya there.
I can’t speak for the SBTGRVL camp, but I went to the DK gravel camp last year to the tune of $1800 and it was super useful. I’d absolutely recommend these camps to a person who’s got some experience riding gravel but wants to take their skills up a notch.
I rode with Yuri Hauswald and Amanda Nauman on two of the days. They lead the group during the rides and took the time to help give some great tips to the riders in the pack.
The food provided at the dinners was excellent and it was great having the support from the event promoters. After dinner there was a presentations that were informative and others that really got you stoked to go race. All the while you’re meeting some new friends that also share the same passion for gravel racing.
During the camp we rode the 100 mile course, 90% of which was in the 200 mile race, so knowing so much of the road ahead of time really was nice during the race months later.
Also, the guaranteed race entry, swag and full kit that came with the camp added up.
So, I understand that stiff price tag looks pretty large, but there is a lot of value for someone who really likes the race they are going to.
Hey, as a middle aged man with disposable income, I resent that remark!
Fortunately all these events have easily downloadable course maps and me and my buds just plan our own trips without all the BS.
I’m also doing Texas Chainring and Red River Riot. And Rebecca’s Private Idaho. Have you done Mid South before? I hope for everyone’s sake it’s a dry year.
I will be doing Barry this year!
I am super pumped, I did it last year as my first introduction to gravel and loved it!
I dream of doing the Oregon Trail Gravel Grinder some day!
Hope to do that, too. Looks super fun. Maybe next year!
Old Growth Classic, in Little Basin, Santa Cruz.
Super fun event, super well organized, hopefully there will be a 2020 (not announced yet)
This will be my first Mid South. I hear it can be quite the slog if it’s muddy.
That looks rad…Hope it happens. I’ll definitely look at making it. All that area is so awesome to ride…some of my favorites
I always like to share this site because I find many people still don’t know about them. But this guy has a great national calendar. He also has a YouTube channel where you can watch his gravel bike reviews.
Despite listening to every episode of the pod cast I’m still not entirely sure what a gravel race is.
