What do you pay for Annual Bike Maintenance?

One Bike: Specialized Roubaix Comp 2017 Road Bike
Mileage: 5,000-7,000 miles per year
My FTP: Not telling

The two most expensive years were about $700 but the others ranged from $250-$500 with most years being nearly $400. I have learned the absolute most basic of basics, now clean it obsessively, and try to avoid potholes and cow paddies. Unfortunately, I have a very hard time changing the tires due to the deep ENVE wheel wells. It is expensive but for me there is a threshold when I just want someone who knows what they’re doing to do the work. And my bike shop is amazing. Plus, I don’t want to do it. I just want to ride the thing.

Me too Roval wheels + arthritis+ Cont 5000’s. What I do is unbox and leave them in the sun for about an hour. It’s still near 100F here in Texas. If its cold I put them in a 150F oven for 10 min instead. Mount them on the rim without tube so I can use tire levers. Then take them off and remount with the tube.

The best way to up your annual maintenance cost is to race/ride in wet and sandy conditions. Did a 100mi gravel race in pouring rain and needed new: BB, upper and lower jockey wheels, break pads and rotors. I did win a Yeti coffee mug, so that offsets the cost a bit :face_with_diagonal_mouth:.

That and mud. As you wrote, you can wear down a set of new brake pads really quickly.
