Yup. Exercise helps reduce mild stress such as this. The issue is when the stress is greater it causes physiological symptoms. It’s all connected, which is the point Abe is making yet arguing?
I’m going to respond to this to clarify some things I’ve said, and then let this drop once and for all.
First off…it is increasingly becoming clear an internet forum is not the place to discuss topics in any meaningful way. It’s fine for asking about bike recommendations or posting pics. The format doesnt seem conducive to actual discussion of different viewponts. Discussions are lost, people read one post and assume they’ve gotten the entire argument and context, and respond with assumptions that just simply are not true. And then the ridiculous accusations of moving goalposts come in.
So I’ll just lay out what I have actually said and argued, and then let this go. Feel free to ridicule me if you want, but for christ sake at least do it with accurate info.
My original post was prompted by statements on the podcast about how “life stress” contributes to overall training load, and can prevent recovery. Life stress was never completely defined, but it was certainly never talked about outside the context of normal work/family life.
THAT is what I was questioning. That the stress of a normal job, normal family, can physiologically prevent a normal amateur athlete from recovering from and adapting to training stress.
