So many better races on GCN anyways, they just received rights. So last minute planning probably doesn’t help.
I don’t care about other races at this point. The tread is about gravel wc
@Power13 already said this, but just to reiterate. Gcn is broadcasting everything that is available. The race is only doing live coverage of the last 90 minutes of the men’s race and none at all of the women’s.
Fair point but I already said they received their broadcasting rights last minute. Probably why they’re unable to have every minute of the men’s and woman’s race. Idk but just a guess.
Understand about the partial live broadcast at last minute. Seems like it would be to their benefit if they could at least have a couple cameras filming the whole thing (and the women’s race), since they’re going to be onsite, and since you can go to GCN+ and watch replays of all the races they cover. I mean, it’s 2023 and we’re streaming most of our entertainment anyway…
Sarah Sturm posted that the womens race won’t be broadcast at all.
Worlds will officially have less coverage than the Euros last weekend then!
Hopefully they do better next year because that’s lame.
Anyone know someone at the race? Planning to ride with a camelback, but would love to coordinate feeds with someone if willing
You can only televise/stream the feed you are given. No one buys rights to only 90 minutes of feed. I would be 99.9% certain that this is the only broadcast available and not at all GCNs fault.
I don’t see anything on my GCN app about this race?
Not blaming GCN here. The UCI are suckers here. Last year we got bike path world championships.
- This year they changed the promoter last minute.
- The course was revealed last minute.
- No info about live coverage, until GCN secures rights last minutes.
This is peak amateur organization. And man when I look at the route. A little better then last year, but still wtf is this. That’s the stuff I ride if i wanna nice sunday ride. I actually don’t think we even have such an easy race here in Poland
it’s like 50% paved roads and rest is light gravel we have here on tourist bike paths like eurovelo etc.
Brought up GCN, multiple times, from USA and it doesn’t show the UCI gravel championships.
Fired up the VPN to England, loaded GCN, and it appeared.
Quit GCN, quit the VPN, loaded GCN again, and it was gone.
Good times.
They don’t have the rights in America, flo has them I believe
sure, but I can see other races that GCN will not stream to IP addresses in the USA
Oh interesting. I only ever see the races in the iPhone app that I am in the correct region for
When watching the tour it wouldn’t show up at all until I was connected to a vpn
Maybe I’m thinking of last year? I clearly recall being able to see races and then have to carefully read the fine print on region availability.
Same. It only shows the content available in your area AFAIK. Once I switch on my VPN it shows a lot more.
In their web browser it lists all, but both android and iPhone apps have always only listed things you can see AFAIK
