Trainer options for mtb sram eagle with boost spacing

I’d say there’s 7mm clearance on my setup. Plenty of room.

Did u have to stretch the chain stays using the spacers provided?

I didn’t have to stretch them at all. My bike fits really well.
The only adjustment needed is a turn or so on the barrel adjuster to get the gears just right.

I don’t have the right tool on hand to get the non drive side off for a picture. From memory it had a 6mm washer for boost spacing.
I did try playing around with some of the extra washers provided. They weren’t needed for my bike.

Hi, as an addition to this, I’ve just tried fitting an NX1230 Eagle Cassette to an Elite Kura (shares the same body design as the Drivo I & II) and the 50T cog fouls on the trainer body and will not turn. It looks like the Direto, Suito and Zumo won’t have this problem.

Hello Rosscopeco:
I just bought my first trainer which is an Elite Tuno Power Fluid Trainer. I run an Orbea Alma Carbon with the same Sram Eagle 12 x148 mm boost spacing you have. What type of trainer or adapter you are using?

I’ve got three of them banging around and they all work with the Eagle gear. The NEO2, Kickr Core and Elite Qubo Powerfluid.

My favorite is the NEO2. It just works. It came with all the adapters needed to mount my bikes.
The Kickr Core is OK. It was still working last time I checked. The adapters are included and it supports a 12mm through axle.
The Elite Qubo Power Fluid is a solid little unit that I started out with. I’ve kept it as a back up. You need an adapter kit to use it though. The adapters are sold separately.

Hi Ross,
Sorry to interrupt your thread but I am curious on which wheel on trainer you have?
I am currently looking for one but can’t find any that fits with 12x148mm boost spacing with chain-stay width of 180mm, most seems to stop at 175mm.
Kind regards,
Andreas

Hello Andreas. The 3rd trainer in the above post is a wheel on trainer that accepts 180mm chainstays. That’s about the same width as the Scott Spark.
I’m pretty sure the Kickr Snap is also an option if you’re after something controllable. MI-XC can probably give you advice there as I’m pretty sure that was his old setup.

@Andreas_Dahlgren Yup, I used a Kickr Snap on my 2018 Scott Spark size L which is boost. I recommend the Snap for a wheel on trainer.

@Rosscopeco Super late to the party on this forum, but you seem to know your stuff. I ordered an NX eagle cassette to use with my Wahoo Kickr Coreand put it on last night. The shifting went all over the place. It basically shifted like two toddlers and a hammer had set up my bike.

I emailed wahoo and they said I would need to adjust my deraileur limit screws and cable tension every time I put the bike on the trainer which seems ridiculous as the whole point is being able to switch it back and forth from indoor to outdoor. How were you able to get yours to work? Is there a spacer I need? It doesn’t make sense to me to have to adjust it given the # of speeds and all that don’t change.

You need to use a 1.85mm spacer with the NX eagle cassette. 12-speed mtb cassettes are narrower than 11-speed road cassettes. The Kickr comes with one. I’m not sure about the Core.

This worked! Thank you!!

Glad you got there. It’s 4:30am here and I was struggling to remember the setup for the Core.

Happy training!

Glad it worked. Technically, the included Wahoo spacer is actually 1.8mm not 1.85, but it’s close enough that it works pretty well. You can buy a 1.85mm spacer from Shimano and then the shifting should be completely perfect.

I know an old post, but google is not giving me the answer. Can the original (2017/2018?) Elite Direto take a boost 148mm frame? I have the original adapters in a bag somewhere, but thought there was only one for 142mm thru axles, and not boost.

I can find an adapter online, but on some sites it specifically says on for direto XR.

Thanks.

Not entirely sure where I got that info, since it was so long ago. Presumably the actual Elite site and specs as I pull from the direct source when possible.

I took a quick search and checked the DCR Review, which only seems to mention 142mm, not 148mm boost. My gut says that the older trainer is not compatible. But an email to Elite may be your best bet to know for sure.

I have my Scott Spark on my Direto. There’s an adapter online you can get through Amazon, same with the XD/XDR hub. Very easy to setup.

I haven’t dug to find the specific answer, but this might be on the path to it:

And the PDF linked from that page above:

Thanks, that seems to show there is an adapter, and it’s the same as a newer trainer uses. Seems that some secondary sites are incorrectly stating the adapter doesnt work with Direto, but it in fact dose. I’ll order one this week and see. Thanks

I found it on amazon. It fits. Searched elite boost 148 adapter, ordered it and working fine.
