People cut marathon courses for a “finisher medal” for a race they didn’t complete. People are weird.

Absolutely no doubt tech is helping people progress. I think platforms like zwift, tr, combined with power are a big part of it. So much information out available which helps as well. Arguably too much but, better than when we had just books, word of mouth and mags to learn from. I reckon 1st year cyclist understand and advance faster than what took me many seasons of trial and error.

With respect to doping I’ve had a really bad experience with many local riders getting found out after doing well in many races for many years. I quit a team just prior to the pandemic after finding out a number of guys were doing T. Most went to the same clinic here in Scottsdale friggin Arizona. I’m still pissed. These riders were a part of a much larger circle of riders who were all very strong. Makes me wonder how many more are doing the aging clinic route?

The older the AG the worse it is IMO. In my mid 50’s now I can understand but, don’t condone. It’s a young mans sport. Pretty hard observing heart function and therefore power drop like a stone. It’s been hard for me to age gracefully in sport. Something I’m working on though.
